I really want to color my hair ... REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to. I have to wait a while b/c I'm working on getting my healthy hair regime down to a science before doing anything drastic.

So ... my concern is putting synthetic chemicals in my hair ... permanently. I do NOT want my curls stretched out any more - I LOVE my big hair. At first, I thought henna, but then I realized it won't do anything for my jet black hair. Well, I found this - http://www.aveda.com/enter/color.tmpl

Full Spectrum Deep™ Creme Color for Dark Hair
Transforms dark hair to light—vibrant, true-to-life tones from a single, simple process. All from a 93% naturally derived* formula, so color is healthy-looking, luminous—and it's gentle on the Earth as on hair.

Has anyone does this particular Aveda service? If not, what did you use to color your hair? Do you feel that it's loosened your curl pattern? Have you had any other negative results?

i have not done it yet but my appointment is for this saturday.
i plan on getting auburn hilights and some honey brown hilights too.

i have natural ink black hair. every time i've went lighter i've done it my self with dyes i got from sallys (not the box colors, those wont work on me). depending on the color i've wanted i have had to bleach my hair. i've done all of this my self in my own bathroom successfully without changing my curl pattern. the only time i've jacked up my curl pattern was from using to high heat on my flat iron lol

here's what my last bleaching looked like after growing out for a while

I always get my hair dyed lighter at salons- not boxed stuff, where they actually mix it and use developer etc..
I've heard Aveda was good for color..I just didn't think something all natural could get my hair from dark, dark brown to caramel blonde.
I haven't had any damage from color though and I have been dying it blonde for some years off and on now.

Just remember that permanent color is permanent color. They are still going to use developer like any other color. The whole 93% natually dervived means they are talking about their pigment sources. It is still chemical color. With that said, Aveda has good color formulas and they tend to be some of the most widely tolerated out of many professional brands. If I were to get professional color tomorrow, it would be aveda, joico, or kuene.
