:) I'm just thinking about the results.
Does anyone have any great results to report about MTG?
I haven't used mine in a long time.
It sits underneath my sink....and that's it. I sort of gave up for awhile.

I use MTG, straight no chaser. :D

I like how you phrased that, "no chaser." It makes me think of how I like my tequila. I MTG straight as well. It works better for me this way.

MTG works, I can't show you new pics until Dec though-I'm on the hide until xmas challenge.

WOW!! You've had some serious progress. How often do you use it?

Only once a week. I was putting on my scalp just after shampooing once a week. Now I'm on the dirty challenge and shampoo once every 12-14 days, but I still apply MTG once a week. I'm not really into putting it on daily or several times a week.

I am currently experimenting with applying it to only one side of my head... I'm applying to the shorter, thinner side with hopes that it will catch up some with the other side. I won't know for sure for another 6-7 weeks when I'm due for my next relaxer.

Girl, I never tried the mixing, but all the concoctions seemed like too much work and too much money, so I just bought a bottle and went for it. I personally don't think it's the worst thing I've ever smelled. Maybe I'm crazy or something. I mean, it doesn't smell good, but it certainly isn't as bad as folks made it out to be. And because I apply it on my scalp after shampoo, the smell is nearly gone by the next morning.

Yeah, the smell isn't that bad. I use it on my scalp every night. I was out of braids in 18 days and I can usually keep them for 2 months or more.

Your hair looks nice and healthy. ;)

MTG is Main Tail and Groom. It was origionally developed by a aberber for his clients, but it was discoverd that it works well on horses. The business just went the way of the horses. The company, Shapely's, is now looking to re-market to humans. This is different form Main and tail at Sally.

There is a long thread of happy Main and Tail users here somewhere.

Is MTG in any stores or do you have to order it online?

You can order it from Shapely's. I think it's shapelys.com. don't quote me on that. I bought mine form someone here.

It's done wonders for me. I was at bsl before I cut my hair. I plan to be back there soon.

MTG has thickened my hair as well! My hair has never been thin, but it is even thicker now. My crown has thickened and the thickest part is the back of my head. The pic in my siggy is after approximately 2 to 3 months of MTG usage.

My hair is definitely longer and thicker after using MTG for over 1 year. I use it 2-4 times a week. The most improvement was when I used it daily while wearing braids for 10 weeks. I use it straight or mixed with shea butter. I've made gifts of sample bottles to my friends and coworkers. One coworker has twists that grew from teeny-weeny and sparse to thick and ear length.

I use my MTG straight as well. No scents added or anything. I only use it once a week like the label says. I can say that my freaking hair has lost it's mind and is growing like it's running from something inside of my head!! I LOOOOVE MTG!! I posted pics before of my twists at 2 weeks and it shows how much growth I had (almost 1 1/4 of an inch in 2 weeks!!)

PM me and I'll give u the password to my Fotiki.

Well,
I've used MTG for about six months when this craze started.
My hairline (temples) filled in, but no significant growth at all. My hair seemed to be a lot dryer.
I was using it twice a week.
It discolored my jewelry too. :look:

You guys with wild growth using MTG are you...

Mixing it with something?
...Saturating the hair?
etc.

I just can't figure this out because it did nothing more than fill in my hairline temple area...that's it!
My hair did not seem to grow one inch...nothing!!!
PM's are also welcome 'cause I'm just wondering if I did this all wrong.:look:

I used MTG straight without mixing and after washing my hair.

I aim the nozzle and apply it to different sections of my hair and massage it in. If I mix it shea butter, I grease my scalp.

I am using the Odorless MTG Naturallady (that's her username) makes. I am 4 weeks, 2 days post and looking like LUDACRIS! I measured tonight, 1 3/4 inches of new growth! How in the world I'm going to make it to 12 weeks I dunno!

I am also taking Vits. I have never had this much newgrowth EVER! I used to strech my relaxers (not intentional, I was just lazy:grin: ) 10-12 weeks and even then still had straight spots...now, not a straight spot on my head!

I may just go ahead and retouch at 6 weeks:ohwell: I just relaxed 4 weeks ago with Motions but after reading everyone elses results, I may switch to Affirm (Yeah right, like y hubby will go for that! He's about through with my PJism!:lachen:)

i stopped using it because i didnt feel it was doing anything special. i think it may work for some, but imo i think there is an illusion that it works so great because it causes a perm to revert quicker than if one was not using it. leading one to believe that because they need a retouch sooner their hair is growing faster. just my thoughts :)

Relaxers don't "revert", once the structural integrity of the strand is altered by a chemical process there is no changing it back. Hair is dead, it doesn't heal itself, it doesn't scab over, it goes with whatever you do to it and stays that way.

I think the idea of "reversion" may come from many black women having underprocessed hair to start with- once the initial style is over and humidity or water hits tresses, it becomes evident whether or not the hair was properly straightened. I thought for a long time that my relaxed hair was reverting very quickly (I was doing at-home perms) but it turned out that I was under processing my hair in certain areas, resulting in a lot of poof and the illusion that I needed another relaxer ASAP.

thanks for the inspiration, ladies...luckily, i live amongst farms with horses, sheep, goat, chickens - you name it, we smell it...LOL!
i just found a feed store that sells the mtg original for $13 for the 32 oz...YAY! they close at 4pm, so i guess i'll be there after work!
