Any ladies ever play with Clip-On Extensions...

So I've got a couple of big dance auditions and other things coming up, and just to add that spice of glam, I came up with an idea to maybe add a few pieces to my hair for length and then I can curl them and do whatever without having to reach for wigs or get a full sew-in. I sweat like a pig, so this seems like a cool idea, and I don't have to worry too much about my own hair getting all jacked up from torturing with heat or anything else.

I saw this video on YouTube:

as well as several others that talk about how to put them in etc etc, and figured to easily make my own out of some good Remy Hair, and I can go from natural to glam whenever I want.:yep:

Anybody use anything like this before? I would much rather do clip ons to add volume to my own hair than to wear wigs because I HATE the way I look in them, and they always feel like they're going to fall off, and I'm not big on weaves anymore and would rather sport my own hair. So anyways, back to topic, anyone do this? I'm going to get some supplies this week and get to work making my own.

I love love love clip on extensions. They are very natural looking.

I make my own. Super easy.

Ok then I'm sold, if you're doing it Noir, I'm totally game, lol. Are they damaging? Do you sew yours or use a glue gun?

Girl what are you doing up this late, lol...

I have some from Beverly Johnson that I ordered online but I haven't used them yet. It's synthetic hair but boy does it look real. I think it's a great idea. Quick, easy, and painless!!!

Hey Foxie,

I have never used clip ins. I know you said you don't like wigs, but have you considered half wigs, you could get some nice volume. You could bobby pin it on and not have to worry about it coming off:lachen:.

I have the individual clip on pieces as well as the jessica simpson full flip ins. I love them but they can get knotty like a real weave. I've also made my own by buying the weft separate and getting the clips from sallys (when they still had sallys in the bx :( ) and sewing them together. they are no more damaging than a regular hair clip to me. It tells you to 'tease' ur roots to get the clips to stay tight but if ur roots are thick with some nap, they should stay with no problem - teasing to me, raises the cuticle - NOT GOOD. I use them for fullness when my hair starts becoming a V shape.

I've made my own based on that first youtube video!! (I like that woman's crazy makeup tutorials :look:). But, I bought some cheap blonde hair and the clips...sewed a weft to the clip (next time I'll glue for ease) and voila! Really simple and fun. No damage.

Just make sure the part is a tad ratted so the clip doesn't slide out on you.

Thanks ladies for the input. Actually with my roots, there will be noooo need to tease :giggle:. I'm going to use really good hair to do them. When I wore weaves I sported Wagman's but my BSS love of my life was Outre Velvet Remy. It never tangled and blended excellently with my hair. So I will start with a pack of that (at about 12 inches for now), and see how they go.

I tried half wigs before... :nono: To me they still look wiggish and again they never stay on my head secure enough for me to feel confident they wont fall off. I think I can handle a track or two being that that's very familiar to me... lol
