HELP!

ok im always calling for help. lets start by "hi to all"

im trying my best from this month to get back to caring about my hair very well! like at the begining of my journey....at least 2 years ago. then i just stopped being so nice to my hair.

ANYWAY: when i do twists its as if it leaves me with knots and breaks my hair anyway somehow.
when i do individual extension braids: unfortunatly this time my friends braided me, and my real hair sticks out!!!!! so i guess im wearing this protective syle for nothing. (i try my best to moisturize, not rub and break).

But is there anything else i can do that will give me the feeling that im getting retention and not losing hair with all my efforts?

it feels like im never going to get to my goal, like its been the same length forever. This is so disappointing ,discouraging.:cry2:

When you're wearing your protective styles, are you moisturizing/sealing/tucking your ends? If not, you may want to give that a try. Your ends are the oldest part of your hair, thus making them more susceptible to breakage.

Why not try wearing your twists/braids in a nice bun or updo. You can also throw in some cute hair accessories to spice things up. Also, there are some really good PS tutorials on YouTube. Check those out as well.

Perhaps you may want to try joining the HYH challenge. It's great for moral support, and it's also good for getting new ideas for PS.

Wig or weave
This is Halleys curl Natural and I have a small perimeter left out! It just took a min to tweak my blending to match it. Now its flawless....And I'm 4 b to the core!

I agree about getting a weave or wig. I'm 4b and I have a pic of my hair in 3 different weaves.

Pharmgirl247 not that I'm good at spotting weaves but I'd never know you had one. Very nice!

coolsista-paris, I have no problems with braids or twists, so I suspect that technique might be the reason you have problems with those. So if you're willing to give them a shot and try to improve on how you do them, then I might be able to help there.

Otherwise, you could try the wig idea or headwraps/hats. Square plaits and then baggy and forget about your hair. I don't use any products when I baggy and my hair is as soft as can by--so I know if you decided to wig it, you could probably do what I do. The benefits is I can keep my hair braided or twisted forever and not have it matting up. Of course if you do braids, I'd suggest big braids. The only small braids I can leave in for long are those done with additional hair. If I braided my own hair in small braids w/o additional hair, I'd not be able undo it w/ ease.

thanks for answering ladies. Its weard cause my twists look good, but i have a feeling that its not working. Besides at work its complicated...not aloud to wear hairstyles i like.....
Concerning braids, next time i wont let people braid my hair (i was lazy this time ,i hade given birth just a few weeks before). But maybe i should try to make them tighter when i do them alone next time? This time i never really wore my hair down (only like 5 times). I kept either bunning the braids or putting them in a hairband.

ok, i think i shall give it another try.

Conrows are nice but get messed up fast (especially that i moisturise often).

As nonie said, I would say it's most due to techniques than styles you chose.
I wear 2 strand twists since June/July consistently and I keep wearing them because it's the only style with I don't experimentate knots and breakage
~no knots surely because I do them on stretched hair and apply gel on the 2 strands before twisting them(for avoid the hair strand to tangle with another hair strand) -don't worry it's a veeery soft and moisturizing gel(flaxseed gel)
~no breakage because I wear twists for 2 weeks at a time(so very low manipulation) and that I always hide ends (roll tuck and pin style or buns)

about braids. as you said, it's the technique : and that's why I don't like when another person than me touches my hair lol !

roll tuck and pin style : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t740muCq6u4 you can do it whatever your length is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
