To all the ladies who have been brave enough to share stories and post pictures- I literally applaud you! Please don't give up! I really believe that my cousin has Alopecia that the OP referenced. It looks like she might have a chemical burn right in her crown area. I know that she gets so frustrated and disappointed, and I empathize with her. The difference between you ladies and her is that her answer is to stay in weaves and wigs 100% of the time. It takes strength and courage to fight for your hair. Hopefully, many of you have had a comeback since the original thread was created!
 
Has anyone used onion juice to help with hair loss? A few years ago, my hair started breaking in the crown area. It would grow back and then always break again. I was getting relaxers when it started but I haven't had a relaxer for at least 5 or 6 years. Eventually, I got a small bald spot in the crown. It has gotten bigger over the last couple of years. Lately, every time I wash or comb my hair, there is a lot of hair left in the comb or shower.

Last week I used the juice of an onion on my hair and scalp and I am amazed at how much the shedding/breakage has stopped. I used to have a scary amount of hair in the comb after washing or combing. After the first time using the onion, there is hardly any hair in the comb. I'll do the onion treatment 3 times a week. I hope it's not too late to recover from this. I would love to hear your results if you have used onion juice to combat hair loss.
 
@MileHighDiva Awesome!!! I'm wondering if it also works on broken hair-- I had some breakage in the nape and front the last time I colored... This is great info though. Thanks so much for sharing! @neet4 I'm glad this is working for you!!!
 
It sure helped stop my breakage. I'm waiting on it to stimulate my follicles so I can get some growth. I only tried the onion, not the garlic.

I researched info on the internet and youtube about using the onion. The blog mentioned above written by seamonster is the same person named howconnie who has a youtube channel. She is one of the few people who has shown results after using the onion mask. I think a lot of people may not stick with it because of the smell. Well, I hate onions but I will tolerate the smell for a couple of hours, 3 days a week if it will improve my hair problems. I haven't noticed a lingering onion smell after I shampoo. I only use the juice. I blend the onion and then put it in cheesecloth to squeeze the juice out.

I have not used sulfur. I mainly used the foam prescribed by my Dr.
Now I incorporate African black soap and ACV to the area which has helped some. It's still too early for me to conclude anything definite though.
 
Hi everyone. I have traction alopecia at my hairline (bald edges) due to past bad hair practices (tight weaves). I have tried everything and it is irreversible. I am now consulting with doctors for a hair transplant. I am sick of the snake oil, potions and want to be able to wear my hair off my face.

I've met with 1 doctor and will be meeting with 2 more before I decide on who will be doing my procedure. I'm really excited about a female African dermatologist who does the procedure. I may have the courage to post pics after its all said and done but realself.com has been a good source of info for before and after pics. I understand that this may not be suitable for everyone but there's no other option for me.

I am a new believer in herbs to help with hairless. I've recently ran across a blog and I've only been using the herbal spray 2 weeks and I see a significant change already. I really believe God led me to that blog because I've been seeking him concerning my hair. Her recipe is copyrighted so I won't put it here but I will put the website.

I will post before and after pics soon but I want to give it some more time to work. I was using rogaine as prescribed by my doctor but when I ran across this blog and saw her results, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did because I haven't used rogaine and I've been spraying this stuff on my scalp twice a day for 2 weeks and I see a very noticeable difference. I have a little patch of hair where I didn't have one for YEARS! Also, my edges are starting to fill in where the weave had taken them out. One side is worse than the other so its taking a little extra tlc for that side to fill in but I see little hairs when I look using my magnifying mirror.

I think there is a connection between diet and hair loss for many of us. Vitamin A deficiency can cause hair loss. We can supplement but for some people gluten and other foods block the absorption of some nutrients and create a vitamin A deficiency.

I turned most of my hair loss around but I just recently started GI restore diet to see if I can finish the job. I'm also wanting to see if it slows my graying and maybe increases my growth and retention.

Also if we aren't eating a nutrient dense diet the body doesn't get what it needs so it takes care of the major stuff and just doesn't do anything with the rest like hair.
 
I was diagnosed with scarring alopecia around this time last year. My dermatologist put me on an antibiotic and topical steroid cream regimen. I will admit that I wasn't really consistent with it but I guess I did enough to stop the inflammation and scarring. The last time I saw her she said she didn't see any additional inflammation but that my hair and scalp were dry. She also saw areas where there were still follicles but no hair growing. I think my scarring alopecia was caused by lazy hair care practices resulting in dry scalp (dermatitis) that would become inflamed and then lead to scarring. In the last month or so something has clicked with me and I've started taking much better care of my hair inside and out. I'm taking Viviscal two times a day, washing my hair more regularly, doing nightly scalp massages with castor oil, and sleeping with a silk scarf. I'm also eating much healthier and drinking more water. I have noticed that my scalp is no longer flaky, a dramatic decrease in shedding, and my hair feels much more moisturized and tangles less. I can't say I've noticed any regrowth or increase in overall thickness, but I think I need to give that more time.

Thank you! I feel like I'm throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. I keep reading about all of these different ways to regrow hair. I'm constantly on Youtube looking at videos of people who say they've regrown their hair after thinning and alopecia. Have any of you gone the all natural route (nutrition, supplements, natural hair masks, and essential oils) and seen results?
 
Yes. Last year i used the foam and even did on round of injections this year. But since my alopecia is in the beginning stage, i opted to experiment and try a natural route. Im still researching to get a better understanding but number one on my list has been keeping a clean scalp, free of oily build up. This has drastically improved the scalp inflammation issue...which meant i no longer needed the foam. I will post some other things that i researched when i have a chance.
 
Ok ladies! As promised, here are my before and after pics. Unfortunately, the before pics were taken in February when I was gonna stick with the rogaine method but I only did that for 1 month. When I ran across this websitehttp://www.lovenaturalsunshine.com/2015/01/ccca-alopecia-hair-loss-series-part-1.html , that's when I started using the spray on my scalp and I noticed a change within a few days. I also did the paste she speaks of with manuka honey, aloe vera juice, water and ginger powder once a week before shampooing. I've only done the paste twice though. Its been a month and I see a difference. My edges aren't coming in as well as the crown but I will still continue with the spray and ad the essential oils she speak of to my edges. I'm thinking that my edges may be traction alopecia since its not responding. When my dermatologist biopsied my hair, she didn't biopsy the front. Excuse the Miss Celie look! Just want to show my progress. Small but in the right direction. We will figure this thing out together! I refuse to believe my hair won't grow back.

@Hisbeloved Wow!! Congratulations! That's wonderful progress for only 3 months. Your crown is definitely filling in and so are your edges. There's now a layer of baby hairs where you once had bald spots. If you don't mind I'm going to pray over your hair right now.

Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for @Hisbeloved . Thank you for giving her the strength to not only document but also share something that is so deeply personal for so many of us. Thank you for giving her a spirit of bravery so she can help others. LORD God we know you are a God who restores us and we all see how you're restoring our sister's hair. I'm going to co wash today. beforehand I'm going to make an onion juice and ginger juice scalp treatment. I tried ginger last week and didn't strain it so little bits were all over my hair (I'm still picking some out). I'm also going to run to the store and get some aloe vera juice and the herbs mentioned in the website Hisbeloved gave. I've noticed some slightly sore spots in my head this week so I want to nip that in the bud before any damage happens.

Speaking of soreness. You may feel some soreness after using the treatments for a day but it will go away. I don't know what caused it but I'm gonna believe that it was hair breaking through! :) I no longer get the soreness though. It only happened a few times.
