Detangling under running water often helps knots to slide out. But I've never had a weave so I can't 100% vouch for that being the way to detangle after taking one down.
Thanks for coming in and setting the record straight. I remember someone telling me they had problems after taking down braids b/c they washed their hair without detangling first. I wasn't sure if it worked they same with weave.I just want to stress that you must NEVER, ever attempt to detangle hair with water after taking down a weave (or braids for that matter)
I learnt the hard way that if that hair is not thoroughly combed out before washing, it will literally mat/dread into clumps that only scissors can remove.
I advise combing out in small sections using some kind of detangling spray. Just make sure you remove as much of the shedded hair as possible or you will not like the end result.
just FYI.
