... if so, did you have a hard time adjusting? I've already cut 4-6" so Im well above my arm pit now, but feeling itchy-fingered
Any regrets?

To me a BC is cutting all of your hair off or very close to your scalp. Anything else would qualify as a trim a hair cut depending on your length and how many inchs are cut. I always confused by people who say they did a big chop when really they cut off 2 inches after transitioning for 2 years.

I think OP is asking if anyone who had apl hair has BC'd. She herself had APL hair, trimmed and is considering BC'ing. She's not saying she has BC'd.

in 2005, i cut my hair down to a pixie and colored it strawberry blonde! i loved it! i had just lost 30 pounds and wanted a change. i have wore short hair styles in the past, so it wasn't shocking to me to go that short.

When I first went natural I transitioned for 9 months. I was past APL, I big chopped to two inches after 2 tries The first time I chopped shoulder-length, the second time I did the b/c. It was a bit scary at first and I knew I wouldn't be comfortable with my hair that short so I wore wigs until I was at least chin length. I wore wigs exclusively for the first few month.

I'm curious to know, too. I'm BSL and I'm sure I will be well into MBL (or past it) by the time I BC.

When I bc'd I was almost bra strap length and cut it to 5 inches which in a wash and go is really short. I didnt regret it at all. In fact I think it was the best thing I could have done. It gave me time to get to know my hair and get a regimen together.

When I first Bc'd my hair was really dry and alot of the products I had previously been using didnt work well in my new hair. So I needed to try out new products and get my hair's moisture back in order. It was alot easier to do with short hair then with a head full of natural hair.

If you dont like your hair short then you can always wear wigs extentions or something like that til it grows to a length you like. Thats what I did and I dont regret the cut at all but I was dying for it to grow out so I Could play in it.

Here are pics of my hair right before the bc and after.

I went from BSB to neck/shoulder length when I BC'ed.
I ended up cutting off about 6 inches when I finally BC'ed(at 15 months post), but did minor trims along the way.
I sometimes miss the longer hair, but I know I will be back to APL by the time I'm 24 months post..so I don't worry too much about it.

And I have absolutely NO regrets.

I've shaved my head several times in my life (at least 4/5 times), from all different lengths. It all depends on your mindset. I only regretted it once and it was because of my then SO. He made me feel bad because he REALLY liked my hair. the best part for me was having carefree hair. I miss it sometimes.......

I went from a healthy BSL to a micro TWA.
It was traumatic and I will never do that again...EVER.

I was trying to transition, got frustrated one weekend and loped it all off.
It took several months for me to like it.

I'm back to where I was prior to my BC but uh, yeah, no.

Back in 2005, I was BSL and BCed after just about 6 months of a transition. I had about 3 inches on my head and I had never ever ever had my hair that short before. I never regretted it, but it was definitely an adjustment. I had to try to learn my hair, deal with it not doing what I expected it to/looking like I expected it to and deal with not being able to just put in a ponytail and go.

i was around bsl when i bc'd. i transition for 10 months. when i cut it i had a twa. it was an adjustment but not because i didn't like it. i was concerned about other people's reactions. it was liberating though. i felt good in my skin. i didn't regret it at all.

now that my hair is long i'm glad i had the bc experience b/c i don't think i will cut my hair that short again.
