why isn't anyone experiencing like 2 inches a month or more taking such large doses of biotin? Why take like 300 mg for a inch a month?

Who on Earth here is taking 300 mg per month?

Aren't there people on the board taking 2mg? Is that considered too much? I just starting using Solgar Biotin and it specifically says to take (1)1mg tablet per day. I'd like to up it to 2mg but I'm scared.

A inch a month is alot of growth for some people. Some people don't even get the "average" half an inch a month.

i was using 300 mg of biotin as an example. Nobody uses that amount i've seen but it is people who use alot of biotin. Its people who take 10mg getting like an inch a month others taking less and get an inch. Why is it just stoping at an inch? where is the limit mg where your hair stop growing faster?

Dejuan if you think you are going to look like that rapper in your signature in 3 months by overdosing on Biotin forget it.

The theraputic dose for biotin is 5 mg. You can double that for the first 2 weeks to jumpstart things... This is only a suggestion.

I currently take 7.3 grams per day. For the first 2 weeks I took 12.3 grams / day.

i didnt say i was. nobody is listening to my question im not saying im thinking about taking alot of biotin im asking people why do they when all their going to get is an inch or inch and half at most

I believe it's about genetics. Some people's hair just grows faster naturally and they don't need as much, while others grows slower and they need more. I don't think biotin is a "magic" pill that will promise you unlimited hair growth. It just helps nature along. It makes your hair grow the way nature intended, wheter it's 2" or .5" monthly. This is the way I see it. I have to take 4mg to get an inch a month, some people have to take more others less...

I just want to add I don't think that I'll get more than an inch even if I take 300 mg LOL! It's just not gonna happen!

Well, hey, if you only get a fourth to a half inch a month, an inch really could just make your day and if it takes 5-10 mg to get there, so be it.

Hmmm...I agree with Nacai. Not only is it about genetics, but just mainly about what your body can take and what our body needs. Thats where the experimenting comes in at. I understand what you're trying to say though.

I would love to get at least an inch or even an inch and a half :excited: , man would I do anything to get that, I'm already overdosing in biotin as it is, taking 6000-7000mcg. my hair is growing at between .5-.7 inch per month, my goal is to get 3 inches, man if I could do that in 3 monthes time instead of 5 monthes or whatever, that extra inches or shorters monthes means alot of me. unfortunately it doesn't seem like my hair has even increase even 1/4 of an inch, I measure my hair last year and it average out about .7 inch in the summer and now it's about the same, or if it's faster then I can't really tell or maybe the time is too short to tell, but I'm still gonna continue to take biotin and research other stuff in hope that I can grow an inch or more a month. anyway, I think it's close to impossible to get anywhere close to 2 inch a month, well anyways impossible for me I think. For me, every inch of hair growth is soo precious. I don't think I could afford to take more biotin than what I'm taking anyway and plus I don't know if it'll really work that much better cause I think my body will get use to the dosage, anyone here knows how long I gotta be taking biotin before I go on a detox break so that my body doesn't get use to the biotin? I'm taking the biotin for about 3 monthes now, maybe it's too soon cause some people said that they don't start to see growth until after 3 monthes?

I understand what you're trying to get at, and really it's impossible to give one answer because, as someone already said, everyone is different. Furthermore it's hard for an individual to actually know what their maximum growth rate is and what minimum dose will give them that rate if this is the first time they've taken supplements. It would take a long time to do enough experimenting with different doses. Not to mention if you take other supplements or change your diet, you would have to take that into account as well. I think people tend to pick some starting amount and wait a while to see what it does, increasing later if they aren't seeing much difference. It's like an art

i heard den1 stating on a old post that she gets 1 inch ever 2 weeks so at the end of the months she should have about 2 inches. i read her regime on her website she take about 20 something pills a day lol.

Well Dejuan, Den1's hair regimen is great, well... I mean its great for her. Like we've been saying, some people's body take biotin better than others. Dejuan, have you heard of F.A.S.T...
(fortified amino scalp therapy)? There is a thread on here about it. It's a shampoo and conditioner that is suppose to increase your growth rate by 45%. I'm thinking about trying it out. It sounds like a good product. You can go to http://www.nisim.com
You can get it at your local retailer..
