Another Dominican Conditioner - Great Find!

This is the other side of PJism....the silver lining on the otherwise gray cloud of overspending and product graveyards...

I recently cleaned out my "hair closet" and purged down to only things I loved or wanted to re-try and was left with a nice selection of varied products. I have been in the market for a heavy, moisturizing, deep conditioning product - like cholesterol, but better - and I came across NACIDIT Olive Oil Hair Conditioner (Aciete de Oliva Crema Acondicionadora - is what it says most prominently on the green, yellow and white jar). I decided to try it out tonight. I washed with Head and Shoulders Classically Clean Shampoo (I had a few flakes I wanted to make sure I wasn't misdiagnosing) and conditioned with the NACIDIT for 45 minutes under a plastic cap - no heat. During the rinse my hair was BUTTERY. That's the only way to describe it. It had nice slip but felt very "substantially conditioned" if that makes sense /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Like a real cream conditioner. It felt so nice on the rinse out that I decided to do something that I see a lot of Dom. Salons do, and mix some conditioner with water and use it as a leave in. I took a dollop of the NACIDIT, put it into a spray bottle and filled the bottle with water. I sprayed a little in my hair and rollerset as usual. I used the spray to rewet my hair as I rollerset.

The result on dry hair is wonderful. My hair feels like satin. The ENDS are shiny and my new growth is smooth and soft. My hair is really soft and shiny. This is going into my regular rotation.

NYers - I bought it at Optima Beauty Supply on John Street in Lower Manhattan. John and Nassau, I think. It' was $7 for 16ozs. Kinda reminds me of Blkmane's Tropical Aguacate - but better on my hair. The ingredients are nothing special - it's basically a cholesterol conditioner. But I like it!

I'm so glad you posted this for two reasons.

1. I was in a beauty supply store on Tuesday looking for a Domincan shampoo and conditioner to buy my mom for Christmas. They had so many great sounding conditioners I didn't know what to buy (I posted s/t to this effect somewhere). I saw that as well as was so tempted to try it but how could I know among sooo many? Now I can put that one on my to-try list.

2. I've been searching the old posts trying to find where you posted about using Elucence as a spray leave-in mixed with water. (That was you right?) Anyways, I wanted to know how much you put in the bottle and how much water. However, now I might be tempted to try it as well with the Nacidit.

Thanks for sharing!

Well, since I have your attention, what do you use on your hair as a moisturizer when you want to wear your hair out?

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!

Optima Beauty Supply? Does it have a yellow sign in front? I'm asking because I go to a Optima supply store in Sunset Park, Brooklyn on 5th Avenue between 54th and 53rd street and they have their own section devoted to Dominican conditioners. I'm hoping they're owned by the same people and can find the conditioner there since I don't want to go to the city.

Hello all,

Are there any beauty supply stores in jersey that might have the dominican products, if not, where can I go in nyc to purchase there products?

I would say the ratio of Elucence to water I used was about 1:8 maybe...I used very little Elucence. Maybe about 1 oz. in an 8 oz. spary bottle that I would then fill all the way up with water.

The NACIDIT is nice - and one of the better Dom. Conditioners I've tried on my hair. I find because they are so heavy they work really well on thicker hair. This NACIDIT, 10 en 1, and my salon's own mix are the Dominican conditioners I'd recommend.

Today my hair is soft, shiny and very very full and bouncy. Were not for my jungle like roots I might be a little cute! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

JFN,

I don't know that this Beauty SUpply is a chain so I can't vouch for whether your store in BK is the same as the one in the city. But if your store has a good selection of Dom. products - certainly try there before you go into the city. This stuff isn't exclusive or anything - so anywhere that carries a good array of Dom. conditiuoners should have them.

Shoodrat - I don't live in jersey so I can't give suggestions for there. The NYC location I know of for sure is as posted above.

A little off the subject but:
Tracy, have you (or anyone else) used the Tropical Black--Tropical Bano de Crema Negra Para el Cabello --conditioner or know what it is supposed to do? I mean, why is it black? I have never seen black conditioner before! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I was so glad I found a way to try these products so many people have talked about (special order through duanereed.com). And when I got them the labels were entirely in Spanish. LOL All I could understand was "5 a 15 minutos". I even tried an online translation page. It didn't recognize any of the words! /images/graemlins/confused.gif
I'll glady type the entire label if anyone thinks they can translate.

Watch out re: those 'black' conditioners. They will dye your hair.. At least Miss Key Black conditioner does.

Sassy - I can probably give you a rough translation if you feel like typing it all out - but most Dom. conditioners say the same things as ordinary cholestrol conditioners - but if the hair fantasizer in you wants to know (I know mine always does) then post away. I'll do my darndest to translate. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

To be honest I have NO CLUE what the "black" in black cream is supposed to be or do. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif I always used Tropical for this (which incidentally never dyed my hair - Miss Key may be different tho) and it was just conditioner. I dunno - I wasn't impressed with the black stuff and didn't know what the heck the big ole deal was. For a while Nidia used it exclusively at her salon and everyone was buying it up like it was some rare find. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hmm... I tested it on my hands and it did leave a slight black stain...

That's it exactly! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif Here goes:

El Bano de Crema Tropical, NEGRA, acondicionada el cabello denado y maltratado por agentes como el sol, tintes desrices a decoloraciones, haciendolo lucir mas bello y facil de peinar. Ademas su exclusiva fragrancia dejara su cabello agradablemente perfumado.

MODO DE EMPLEO: Despues de lavarse el cabello, apliquese el Bano de Creama NEGRA, dejelo por espacio de 5 a 15 minutos y enjuague con abundante agua.

My high school Spanish translates that into "apply some scented cream to a horse, leave it on for 5-15 minutes and rinse it off with a lot of water" /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for doing this for me!

Thanks Allandra. That site was much better than the Yahoo translator... I guess some of the words are slang. Or mispelled. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tropical Cream Bath, BLACK, conditions hair damaged and mistreated
by the sun and color, making it brighter, more beautiful and easy to
comb. Further, its exclusive fragrance will leave your hair pleasantly
perfumed.
Directions: After washing your hair apply El Bano de Crema Tropical,
NEGRA, leave it on for 5 to 15 minutes and then rinse it out thoroughly
with water.

This is my best attempt. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif Forgive me abuelita for I know not what I do....

Yes, BRH. Please use what you have. /images/graemlins/grin.gif We've seen the pictures of your product stash, and you have a lot of hair care goodies. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Brownrelaxedhair, Girl I'm feelin' you on that one!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh and Daviine - I use and LOVE Dudley's PCA Moisture Retainer. It really moisturizes my hair and it's grease free. I mix it with a shine balm (smooth and shine or something like it) for shine. I only use it once every two days or so - it really does the trick.

Good and grease free for finehaireds. Hope this helps.

Shoodrat, I would try any beauty supply in a New Jersey town with a high Latino population (Union, my personal favorite since I'm Cuban, and Elizabeth). They will most likely have it.

Good job translating Tracy. I don't read much Spanish but I can pick out words and make sense of them and you pretty much said what the label says /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok i know this is REALLY old but i wanna know. I live in Detroit, are there ANY stores that i can go to that carry domincan hair products? I am so jealous. lol. I always hear NY, NY, NY i wonder if they sell their products anywhere else....like in my town

i bought the Nacidit Olive Oil rinse last week and I LOVE it!!! My hair feels soooooo silky and smooth and moisturized after i use it. This is DEFINETLY a staple and I would recommend to anyone. I have been doing rinses with it for the past week and my hair is much softer !!! Great for $3.69
smile.gif
... I have now come to the conclusion that most if not all of my staples are very affordable !

can someone tell me if the nacidit olive oil rinse and other cholesterol conditioners are moisture or protein???? I want to know because i would like to use them after a protein treatment.
thanks
