Hi Ladies,

I am having a colonoscopy for the first time Monday. I was told that I will be under Anesthesia and this also will be my first time.(Had both babies au -natural and have had several teeth pull with only a local) My hairdresser says that it effects the hair causing it to shed and I am very concerned. I wanted to know if this will be the case since its not major surgey and I won't be under for long and if it is what can I do to keep the hair that I have?

I didnt shed when i had ankle surgery....maybe you should talk to your anesthesiologist before you go under like i did...also i heard garlic pills combat shedding if that is the case.......

Last year I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. They put me under with gas, and I experienced no hair shed outside of my normal shedding.

I just had one in December.

Hair is fine and this side effect was not brought up at the doctor's office at all.

Still ask your doc though. Certain drugs affect certain people.

^^Not only do certain drugs affect certain people, but our immune system responds to stress differently! So, as a response to the drugs and stress, you may or may not shed hair.
Good luck!!

This is pure nonsens. Don't worry about abnormal shed hair. The stress of thinking about that is what will cause your hair to shed, not the anesthesia.
