I've recently discovered the benefits of hot oil treatments, especially doing it overnight:

Shiny hair
Softer hair
More managable hair
Healthy hair due to added moisture

Just wondering what hot oil treatment is working for everyone.

I LOVE WGO!
it makes my new growth so soft!
but for hot oil treatments I use coconut oil, honey, evoo and castor oil. it works like a charm! :D

I like sweet almond oil with a few drops of essental oils.

ETA: Monoi oil and shea butter (in liquid form) are also great oils for HOTs. I have mixed all of them with sweet almond oil, but stopped because it could be quite time consuming. I'm currently using Amla oil - hate the smell - very effective though.

I've only tried EVOO, WGO is great but there's too little of it to be saturating my hair with it for a HOT.

i really like castor oil and evoo! castor oil is sticky, but when it soaks in the next morning your hair is so soft it is unbelievable.:)

Thanks ladies!
It's true that there is too little in the bottle to be using WGO as hot oil treatment!
Castor oil is brilliant! I would like to try Coconut oil as I used to use coconut, honey, Olive oil and CPR to deep condition and my hair loved it.
To be honest, I'm looking for a ready made hot oil treatment. I'm going to start doing overnight treatments with Castor oil, sage oil and olive oil.

What is this 'evoo' ?

Thanks ladies!
It's true that there is too little in the bottle to be using WGO as hot oil treatment! Although I know that it would work serious wonders because I heated it up, used it overnight on my scalp and 3-4" of my ends and my hair just felt rejuvinated! You could see a difference between the hair not with WGO and the hair with it.
I lurve Castor oil. It is brilliant but thick and sticky! I would like to try Coconut oil as I used to use a mixture of coconut paste, honey, Olive oil and Motions CPR to deep condition and my hair loved it.
To be honest, I'm looking for a ready made hot oil treatment. I'm going to start doing overnight treatments with heated Castor oil, coconut oil, sage oil , olive oil and maybe a tad honey, but I would still like to find a hot oil treatment which I can also use overnight, and wake up and get that "ooh, ahhh" effect

What is this 'evoo' ?
And what (benefits for the hair) is the difference between a deep conditioning treatment, and a hot oil treatment?

My special blend of EVOO, Jojoba oil, essential oils (rosemary, lavendar, and peppermint), and a little Taalijah Waajid oil is my favorite.

Also, EVOO alone works great too!

EVOO= Extra Virgin Olive Oil, this one does the job and it's so much cheaper compared to buying those little tubes all the time.

I agree! I'm amazed that something so cheap can work such wonders! I find it great for the hair, skin and food!

Apoghee Fatty Acids Concentrate, I add this to my conditioner and leave it on overnight, then CW the next day.

I found getting rid of the smell of alma oil quite difficult so haven't tried that again.
I haven't tried castor oil or wild growth oil.
I'm not sure if coconut oil is 'heavy' enough for hot oil treatments. I like to use it after washing and whenever my hair is dry.

I like olive oil for hot oil treatments.

loving coconut oil my mom got some a few months ago and I have been sneaking it a tablespoon at a time. I mix it in with my conditioner and sit under the bonnet dryer for 25 min. Hair comes out shiny and detangled.

Salerm Wheat Germ Mask, although, I think I've tried them all and have no complaints. I just like the way my hair felt after a treatment of Salerm.

I love all oils, most work for my hair.

amla
evoo
coconut
sweet almond
carrot
hot 10
emu
kemi
jojoba
honey almond
island oil
castor

As you can see I love oils. I have all of these but one in my cabinet.

Ya'll will probably laugh at me for asking this but, what the heck is a hot oil treatment exactly? I have heard of this all my lifr but I've never had one done or seen one done. Can somebody break it down?

My favorite is castor oil and coconut oil mixed with a dab of honey.
I dampen my hair and then add the oil. I put on a shower cap and then either tie on a scarf and leave it on a few hours, or sit under the dryer for 10 minutes on medium.
Then I blot out the excess oil with paper towels and shampoo and condition.

Some people do it different ways, but I do a hot oil treatment as a pre-shampoo treatment on damp hair. I wet my hair, put the oil through my hair (last time I used olive oil w/ honey), cover the hair with a plastic cap and sit under low heat for about 20 minutes. Sometimes after the low heat I will leave it in for a couple more hours if I am just hanging around the house. Then shampoo and condition as normal. :)

I'm still new to the oil thing but... is there anything wrong with mixing the oils together--i guess i'm asking will one cancel out the other? i'm using flaxseed, peppermint, wgo, jojoba, rice bran, carrot, tea tree, and dang i forgot the other one--anyways, please tell that i'm not about to create an explosion :look: . I used them before and after i shampoo.

The BEST hot oil treatment I've ever had:

3 parts Unrefined Hemp Seed Oil
1 part Pure Carrot Oil
1 part Camelina Oil

Mix the oils in a microwave safe container and heat for about 15 seconds or until warm. Apply to clean damp hair. Cover with platic cap. Leave on for about 1 hour. Then rinse out and apply conditoner.

I just tried Razac's Precision Heat Complex (PHC) and I was really impressed. When I put it on I wasn't sure if I'd like it cause it suds up but my hair came out very soft and moisturized and not greasy at all. It is very concentrated and I will keep it apart of my regime.
