An Update to my Update... same day but a whole new attitude *more pics*

OMG, y'awl are gonna make me cry! Thank you so much for the kind words.

Man, it's so crazy cuz I never thought I could get this much hair on my head; and it's not even really long yet! But now I know that it can get long. And I never would have really believed it if not for you all.

Oh Sheba, I don't think I've ever been so happy to see an update!! Your hair is fantabulouistic!!!

Our Shepherd always takes care of His flock. Swang that blingin' hair one more 'gain, for me. LOL!!

You make me want to do my hair... but I'm not touching it!

Go head girl! It looks lovely and it's grown and improved so much.
So now that you've let the BKT wear off before re-applying, how was your hair?

hahaha, maybe after the new year, then. You know you wanna do another one :poke: :poke:

The length of my hair was beautiful and healthy. I had fun playing with my waves and curls in the shower (shower water weighs em down, ya know?). But it looks like I had too much fun because I created quite a few single strand knots all over. I had to do an aggressive search and destroy and then this BKT to make sure I didn't run into any more for the rest of my HYH.

No damage, that I could see, from my previous BKTs though. But that's the only time I'll let it wear off since it abolishes my nemesis, the SSK; even when I over manipulate my hair while curly.

Wow look at that "swang". :lick::love:

Hello Ladies!

I've finished my 5th BKT and I feel much better now that I can see that the knots didn't do as much irreparable damage as I'd thought. Once they were removed it was much easier to get my hair smooth til the ends. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to go back and get any splits that I may have missed.

I thank you ladies so so so much for the words of encouragement. I'm actually feeling much better about my hair and can see that I've actually made some progress. I wish I had someone to take a pic for me from the back but alas... I will have a new picture taker by my next update :yep: :giggle:

After first trim and BKT. Still need to go through and grab lingering splits:

OMG!! Is that... swing?? I've NEVER had swing!!

I can't wait to see how much it swings when I fully recover from my minor set back. Oh BSL... We shall meet... soon, my friend. Soon :yep:

Hi Sheba

Your hair is stunning.
Please share what products you use both for keeping it straight and wearing it curly.

Awww thank you so much, Jaffa.

When my hair is curly I use a modified version of Teri's Tightly Curly method from http://tightlycurly.com

I coat my hair with thick conditioner (like Aussie's Sidney Smooth or Moist, etc) after cowash (with any one of the Vo5 conditioners; I rotate them) and let my hair dry throughout the day.

I say modified because I do not use a denman to separate the curls (I just rake with my fingers) and I like to cowash and redo this every day. I either wear a curly wash-n-go like my avi or I smooth with my fingers and wet bun. I really let the water help me to smooth back into the bun.

If I'm cowashing daily, I will reconstruct with aphogee's 2 minute reconstructor a couple times a week right before coating my hair in a mixture of oil and DC (my faves are GVP conditioning balm and the herbal liquid cholesterol formula). I will then add the Aussie on top and smooth my hair, again into a wet bun. I don't DC with heat when curly, I just leave my DC bun in until I cowash again the next day.

I hardly ever straighten my hair unless I'm applying my BKT. I'm not really a direct heat girl, but I love that I can get my hair straight with a roller set and silk wrap as I did after my second BKT here. I'm looking forward to trying it again in March, since my hair has gotten a bit longer and I've changed BKT brands.

But when I do flat iron, I do have a method that works for me. I DC with a mixture of gvp conditioning balm, whale sperm conditioner and john freida clear glaze. Once I rinse this out, I smooth two products through my hair one section at a time. I use gvp paul mitchell smoothing balm (about a dime size per section if my hair is split into 6 sections). I then smooth through as DSD shows here. I layer about a quarter size of cowboy magic spread throughout all six sections. Keep in mind, that is not a quarter per section :nono:

Once my hair is straight I maintain by rubbing vatika oil throughout my palms and smoothing into my hair nightly before either wrapping or pin curling.

HTH, Jaffa, if you have any more questions feel free to ask

ETA: I don't blow dry when flat ironing, either. I flat twist and air dry after I add the product before flat iron.

Thanks Sheba - I'm doing my research for a BKT when I take down my braids and like the versatility of it. I'm especially lovin the curly look

Please keep posting your results/observations as they are really helpful for those of us interested in the BKT experience

Whew!!! I'm glad everything worked out after your treatment. Thanks for the compliment about my avatar. That picture was my hair with the treatment 7 months ago. I'll have to update my picture with the treatment I just put in a week ago. I'm definitely still loving BKT!!!

Wow, Sheba! How did I miss this update? Your hair looks great; glad to know that your setback was fleeting! Keep doing what you do girl, because you are doing it well. Thanks for all the inspiration, and looooooovvvvvveeeeeee that swang!!!!!
