An eye for an eye?

I just wanted to share something that has been bothering me a lot lately . . . people who do things that are mean (for want of a better word) because others did it to them first or they think they have a right to do these things!

I see it all the time from people who are Christian. People who are cruel to family members and friends because that others did not return a favor (I've always thought when you do something it should be selfless). Or revenge in the workplace for someone who did something wrong - even though it is not your duty to call vengeance down on that person. Or sneaky actions of racism from people of all races towards others who supposedly believe in God's love for everyone. People who I thought was above this kind of thing.

I am not pretending to be perfect, nor do I expect others to be perfect but I realize all these traits can be catching and I am trying my best to guard my mind against it. I have been going through a rough time with my faith recently and have been trying focus on some fellowship so that I wont feel so alone but it is really disheartening to see. I guess the little things are starting to get to me.

Thanks for listening.

Christians are not perfect and should not be put on a pedestal. Just because someone believes in Jesus Christ does not mean that they are not human and prone to faults.

You are having a hard time with your faith and so may the Christian to whom you put forth such a critical eye. People (whether Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Gentiles, Jews, Antheists, etc.) should be forgiving of others.

I am NOT speaking of Hindus, Muslims, Jew or Atheists. I am speaking of people who are my own religion. Nor is this a criticism of Christianity.

As I said I am not perfect, nor do I expect others to be perfect (please see my original post). I am particularly concerned about people who are trying to help me through this tough time who on one hand try to be encouraging and other the other depress me with the anger and hate.

Dont get me wrong, some of these people are people I love more than anything in the world (including my own family) I just needed to get it off my chest so that I can breathe and move on.

I hear you about getting stuff off you chest...

but these people of whom you speak...

How do you know that they are Christians? Do you know that they have accepted God as Lord and Savior over their lives?

I ask because not everyone who goes to church is a Christian. Not everyone who is Black is Christian. Not everyone whose mother or father went to church is a Christian.

I don't hold people to a Christian standard until I know for sure by the fruit of their own labor/words that they are Christians... if that much is not manifested, I cannot....

that is all.

I understand. I pray that God will strengthen you. Because we are not perfect, man will fail us everytime. During tough times we really have to look to our Father for whatever it is we need. Sometimes he'll send man. Sometimes not. You might just have to break away for a while. Consecrate yourself until you are strong enough to deal with the peanut gallery. While they may be on your nerves right now they won't always be.

Thanks Mocha, I think I will. After posting I prayed and was led to read Job chapter 8 and it made me realize that I have been impatient with God and with man lately. Which means the problem is mostly like with me.

I am going to take a little break and I hope when I return I will have a better attitude.
