An example of walking in love..

We hear a lot about walking in love but sometimes it's not clear what that means on a daily basis. Here on the forum we have a lot of ladies who are real enough to share what keeps them away from the church, what turns them off about Christianity etc, and the down right un Christ like behaviors exhibited by some under the banner of Christianity:nono:. Now we know that imposters exist in abundance but the dialogue is helpful. Love, real agape love, is so important to God. How we treat others is vital. There is a balance between being kind and speaking the truth in love on issues that the majority know they are wrong on but try to bully a Christian into accepting. God is love. Anyway, a friend shared this via email this morning. I thought it was worth sharing with you all as we attempt to walk in love with all ppl.

"Be Kindly Affectionate To One Another."
Ro 12:10 NKJV
SHOW KINDNESS
Sometimes we defend our lack of love, kindness, gentleness, patience, and all those other "fruits of the spirit," in the name of productivity and hard work. But we can't square it with Christ's teachings. He said, "Whatever you want [others] to do to you, do also to them" (Mt
7:12 NKJV). When was the last time you went out of your way to help somebody, expecting nothing in return? Mother Teresa said, "A day lived without showing love for others, is a day not worth living." Loving people must be a way of life, a fixed attitude, a commitment we make every day. William Barclay said: "More people have been brought into the church by the kindness of real Christian love than by all the theological arguments in the world. And more people have been driven from the church by the hardness and ugliness of so-called Christians than by all the doubts in the world." Have you ever stopped to think that all those little irritations which come your way each day, are just God giving you an opportunity to become more Christ-like? Years ago Chuck Swindoll wrote: "What does the Lord do to help broaden my horizons and assist me in seeing how selfish I am? Very simple: He gives me four busy kids who step on toes, wrinkle clothes, spill milk, lick car windows, and drop sticky candy on the carpet...being unselfish in attitude strikes at the very core of our being. It means we are willing to forego our own comfort, our own preferences, our own schedule, our own desire for another's benefit. And that bring us back to Christ."

I strongly and truly agree withthis:grin: thisis why I Often pray that my life/actions is a testimony to YHWH's greatness.. not my words.. because people can and will say ANYTHING that fits thier idea of what....Christianity is.

Thanks for the pos Prudent1. Sad confession...I came to the point when people asked me what church I go to, after I impacted their life in some way, I was too ashamed to tell. Knew what would happen if they started coming.

I read that long after the message is preached what people realy remembers is the feeling of acceptance or rejection, regardless of how 'good' the preaching was.

I'm so tired of fake Christianity. Unfortunately daring to correct someone who is totally into the fakeness could cost you dearly, especially when they are at a high level in the church.
Proverbs 9: 7-8 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth to himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man and he will love thee

I have proven this to be true in the church unfortunately and I am one who could have walked away from Christianity had God not kept me and has been so very real and loving to me inspite of. The pain of a bad church experience can make you scared of being kind but prayer and time can heal the deepest wounds. Being kind on purpose even when, actually especially when you need it yourself can help with overcoming. Just keep focusing on what the Lord has truly done and remember you are to imitate Him not just someone who is called by the flowery, grand 'I'm-the-supreme-head-of-such-and-such-church' names.

I think we may have all had some experiences like this. For those who haven't 2 words... keep living. You are right, it is sad. One of the most freeing things I've learned in my walk with God has been this, I can't change another person. I can pray for them but, I can only change me. God will not continue to be the butt of the joke. He will/ does start the cleaning process in the church first. Keep doing you. Your light will shine so brightly that even when those with titles fall, people will remember your kind words and deeds. They will find you. That's when you can show them again what a true Christian is like.

Scripture Of The Day: "Don't be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest." - Galatians 6:7 (The Message)

That's beautiful Prudent. Thanks for sharing.

When I would get frustrated with people, I would say "Lord, give me patience." God took that saying so seriously. I started a kids choir and I loved them but they would try my last nerve to the point that I would be so drained just getting them to focus.

It finally hit me one night driving home exhausted from rehearsal that it was my opportunity to grow in patience and that God had given me the perfect lesson. If I could deal with these little people in love, then I could certainly be more patient with the grown-ups.

Hard but necessary lesson to learn. I keep reminding myself 'Power belongs to God'. He will take care of things, but the same patience and mercy He extended in the scriptures, He extends to all. But indeed "No one makes a fool of God". I like how that version puts it. Got to make that my quote of the week or longer.

Just wanted to add, let us all remember the church is literally 'us'. Not that physical building. So everytime we go we bring the church to church you know? Those ppl you are able to help got to see church in you which is as it should be.:yep:
