Hi everyone. Well I have finally decided to start taking vitamins to improve my hair's condition. I'm already taking a multi. Just the other day I purchased some EPO, flaxseed oil, biotin, and MSM. Do I have to include a B-complex to get the benefits of the biotin?

How much (mg) should I take of each. How much is needed to see an improvement in the hair's condition and length. For ex., I think I read somewhere btw 3mg-5mg of biotin, but I'm not sure. Also,I think I should start off smaller and gradually increase the dosage.

I'm planning to drink alot of water and I know some people take zinc to prevent breaking out and any other side effects. Any suggestions?

And lastly,What should I expect in terms of results? How long should it take to see some?

Thanks in advance, you ladies are all so helpful I'm glad I found this forum.

Sidenote: I do have a thyroid problem (currently hypo). Which I know is the cause of alot of my hair troubles. It's currently being treated.

This is very good advice!!!!! I think you have answered your own question. I too am one who gets excited from hearing all of the different success stories here, but please use wisdom for your own sake. Introduce one new vitamin at a time, in the event you have an adverse reaction to any of them, you can know right away which one caused it.

I don't know about the zinc thing but definitely drinks lots and lots of water. Breaking down a ton of vitamins without adequate flushing can wreak havoc on your kidneys. (I know because I have suffered from kidney stones in the past).

My experience was 3/4 to 1 inch growth in 3 weeks. That was after introducing the biotin and b-5 to my diet. I still am not up to the amounts that have been suggested on some of the threads.

I would definitely check with your physician or a nutritionist before implementing any serious vitamin regimen to make sure there are no interaction concerns with your medication.

Just my two cents.
