AMLA OIL question

I have tried searching this question (my search feature is not working for some reason)....

Can you use AMLA OIL as a sealant/whatever, without rinsing it out as the box says??? I am afriad to do too much for fear of losing hair. Can someone answer this for me, or what exactly they do with theirs. I followed CandyC's reg.

I do not wash the Amla oil out and I use it as a sealer. The same for the Vitaki and Shikakai oil. I haven't come across any problems. (relaxed 4a/b).

I have the shikakai and amla powders but have yet to use them. But get this, I have been oiling my scalp and hair with the amla oil the day after washing (for moisture retention) and then two days later I use the shiakai oil for two days in a row (lightly) and rub it into my scalp and then use the amla oil on my hair. My hair seems to like this, because it is growing at a fast rate. I wonder if the oils work just as well as the powder. But my hair does tend to grow fast anyway. My girlfriend is doing the same thing and her hair is growing fast. So maybe there is something to the oils.

I use it as a sealant every 5-6 days per week after my CW or wet wash.

I use the Amla Oil Gold.

My amla oil has mineral oil in it, so I don't use it for anything except for oil prepoos. And yes, the instructions are to use overnight and wash out. If I had the kind w/o MO, I would probably use it as a leave-in or sealant instead of washing it out no problem.

Well what type of Amla oil do you use..I am looking for the pure Amla Oil. I heard not sure if it matters but the Alma Gold has mineral oil and many many member feel strong about not using mineral on your scalp.....

Mine is too thick to use as anything other than a rinse Also, it has a particular smell that I just don't like. I use jojoba to seal.

I use it as a pre-poo, sometimes overnight when I know I'm going to co wash in the morning. I just don't like the smell that's why I make sure I wash it out.

When I first started using amla oil (Emami) last year, I fell in love with it like so I ignored the instruction which tell you to wash it out, and I was wearing it as a leave in, but then I noticed that my hair was a little too oily, (even when I put only a little) and also the amla in my hair on my back left stains on my tops I think Vatika is a better leave in for me

I routinely use Amla Gold as a sealant, I love it. It smells nice, gives shine and isn't too oily or heavy.

hey...what's a good price for the amla oil? i paid $2.99 for the dabur 6.76oz bottle at the local asian shop and needed to know if it's a good price before i get the bigger bottle.

I use the Dabur and Heesh Amla oils. I also use the Heesh Shikakai oil. I add 1/3 light olive oil to them. I haven't run into a problem even though I use them three times a week (1 for Amla and two for Shikakai. Shikakai I only use twice per week and only on my scalp. It doesn't dry my hair out and actually my hair seems to stay more moisturized. Oh I forgot, when I use the Shikakai, I mix it with mix it with Weleda Rosemary Hair oil (love this oil) and rub in into my scalp and then rub the Weleda oil separately on the length of my hair.

I saturate my hair with amla and plastic bag it the evening before I'm going to wash it out. You could probably use it as a daily moisturizer, but the scent is awfully strong I don't know

I use my amla oil (mixed with a few others that I can't pronounce or spell) as a pre-poo but i use my vatika oil to massage my scalp daily as well as to seal.

I can't deal with the stinch of the amla oil which is why I don't think I could walk around with it on my head on a daily basis.

I use the powders as well as the oil. I let the oils sit on my hair for at least an hour and rinse them out and then do the powders. I leave the powders on for a few minutes and then rinse out. I then will either con-poo or deep condition depending on the amount of time I have left before I'm too exhausted to do anything else to it. I use a mixture of castor oil and coconut oil to seal.
