Hello you guys... its the "hairfanatic again...
I have been hearing a lot of good talk from a few people concerning Amino acid hair pills. What do you think?? I want to hear everyone's opinion about this. And also what brands??

Thanx... hope to hear from you all soon

I was just trying to find out the same thing. I was reading about it on the Internet, but I'd rather hear the opinions of people who actually use it.

I know that's right girl... I mean reading on the internet is great and all but when you have first-person testimonies, not some recorded report ...... nothing can beat that!!!!

Well I've really experimented with all forms of amino acids (pills and shakes) and IMHO I think you will be better off just finding a good protein shake. I have tried Hair Formula 37 (step 2 is amino acid), then I found out about Precision Engineered amino acid 1500 and switched because the amount of AA was higher for the same amount of money. Lastly I changed to a protein drink (from GNC) which had more AA (protein) than anything I've found .... so again I switched and now I've been drinking the shake for about 6 months. Also with the AA pills, they are huge and you need at least 9 per day to get an adequate dose.... the down side of this is EXTREME constipation

I think you would be better off just taking your AA in a shake form... you get more protein (Amino acids) per serving and it's just easier to take.

Hello Sade,
I've been thinking the same thing. I drink the Pro Performance Whey Powder from GNC, and it makes Puritan Pride's Amino acid pills look like flinstone chewables

. I'm thinking really hard about whether I want to buy the PP aminos again. There are just so many more advantages from drinking the protein shakes.

Oh by the way, I like mixing the protein powder in the blender with fruit (especially strawberries...bananas), and I add a little ice, a lot of water, 1/4 cup of apple juice, and I add V8 diet splash to it---the diet splash only has a little sugar and carbs and 10 calories. It also has a lot of vitamin e, c and a. Very yummy and low fat and a lot of aminos and protein

i've tried hair formula 37 also i can't tell if it made my hair grow faster or not because of the breakage im currently looking for some amino acids but i cant seem to find any at wal mart. but i definately have faster growing nails i got to keep cutting but hair formula 37 too expensive and it takes to long to get here

well dejuan... u probably wont find amino acids at walmart ..let alone a good working band. Try a health food store near to you or just the internet.

does soy protien powder shakes contain all the same beneficial amino acids as whey? I accidently bought soy instead of whey and didnt know if I should bother taking it back and getting the whey.

HA YOU GUYS...... WHERE CAN I GET SOME AMINO ACID PILLS AND WHAT BRands>>>>>????

hairfanatic,
puritan pride has amino acid pills.

well my bf has this gigantic tub of them and i would have to take 6 pills 3 times a day....i cant think of the mgs of amino acids...i'll have to look it up later

I personally think amino acids are excellent for hair growth. I think one could easily get 1+ inch a month taking them. However, the downside far outweighs the upside for me. Any time I've attempted to take aminos, I always get constipated. And they make my stomach very gas-y. I also feel like they bulk me up. Most of all, they're very hard to digest and can cause kidney probelms over time becuase of this. I've opted to take spirulina instead, which is said to have the highest form of digestive protein of any food or supplement. For those who can stand it, I say go for it. You'll definitely notice increased growth rate.

I throw 4 of the puritan pride ones in my protein shake everyday - the blender crushes them but some big chunks are left back - i donnow maybe its the change of season too but i was starting to imagine that these aa are some bad babies

Protein tabs and amino acids are the truth. I saw a girl about 5 months ago and she was just as scace headed as grace jones. She asked me about supplements so I gave her a long list of stuff that might help. I saw her again a couple of days ago and her hair is thick and very very shiney. I asked her what she was doing she said taking a protein tab. I asked her what brand and she said it's the generic grocery store brand.

I looked for the generic store brand and opted for spirulina instead.

Does anyone know where can get protein tablets?

Waste of $$$$. Take a look at the label- there can't possibly be enough protein in a tablet versus whole foods or even protein powder. Also, they will taste like utter crap!

Danny,

Before you buy the Amino Fuel. Please compare the amino acid profile and serving size to the back of the amino profile of a protein powder or a meal replacement powder. You will quickly see it is not as cost effective. Additionally, the protein shake is a tastier option.

You're so right about the spirulina. I don't go a day without it. :yep:
I have also enjoyed my whey protein smoothies this year (Designer Whey) and the plain kind can be used in food like soups.

Goodness, I just posted about my amino acid use in another thread. I have been taking Lysine. Since adding it my hair has started to grow faster. Recently, I have had several people comment on how longer/thicker my hair has gotten in a short amount of time.

But, at the same time I started taking the Lysine, I started using that Sulfur and Herbs pomade (Qhemet) a few times a week. It may be from that, too.

But, I take CVS brand 1000mg tablets - one a day. I picked this one because the bottle says "for collagen and tissue maintenance". I like that so I decided this was the one for me.
