:welcome2:

My Fave 6 are:
1. Coconut Oil
2. Spritz Mix (distilled water/dab of conditioner/aloe vera gel)
3. Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treat
4. Aubrey Organics HSR
5. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration
6. Elasta QP Fortifying Conditioner
7. (Honorably mention: Elucence MB Shampoo)

My basic regimen is shampoo and DC every 2 weeks. Moisturize daily. Use protein monthly. Co wash when I want to wear a puff.

I stick to 2 strand twists and puffs.

Congrats on the big chop!

Routine

Once a week:
* I wash my hair with shampoo and then apply conditioner and castor oil afterwards.

On the other days of the week:
* I still apply condition and castor oil to my hair after rinsing my hair with water. I usually leave a little conditioner in my hair when I rinse it out because this helps make hair softer and define the coils better.

1 -2 x per week:
* I deep condition about once every two weeks but if my hair needs extra care I step it up to once (or even twice) a week. I DC overnight.

*Every two weeks I dentangle with a wide-tooth comb when my hair has conditioner or oil in it. The rest of the time, I use my fingers to detangle.

Every 4-6 months:
* I henna every 4-6 months because it leaves my hair stronger and softer. I always deep condition afterwards. My henna mix consists of henna in powder form, oil and lemon juice. I leave my henna mix to sit overnight in a dark place (cupboard, usually). I leave the henna mix on my hair overnight.

It looks long but it's not complicated.

The products I use/Top 6:

* Sulfar 8 or T-Gel shampoo
* Any generic conditioner for dry/damaged hair since these are usually the creamiest. I tend to stick to Herbal Essences.
* Castor oil
* Dark & Lovely Ultra Cholesterol deep conditioner mixed with olive oil
* Henna (body-art quality)
* Olive oil (I use when I blow-out my hair)

eta: I protective style at least 9 months of the year with braids and do a modified version of my routine (less washing, less DCs etc).

What are you using to moisturize your hair on a daily basis? I would recommend Qhemet moisturizers.
What are you using for deep conditioning? Natural hair craves moisture so you need more moisturizing products. Clarifying once a week might be too much for your hair, maybe tone it down to once every 2-4 wks. A more natural way of clarifying might be helpful too. Apple cider Vinegar and baking soda are good for clarifying without your hair getting striped of all the good stuff. Feel free to PM me and other natural if you need more help.

Welcome!

My number 1 product is coconut oil. I apply it before I wash and it makes my whole wash process easier. I also apply it at the end to help retain moisture. It has so many benefits and has been integral in improving my hair. There are lots of threads about so do a quick search to learn more.

Other things that have helped me are using quality conditioners (specifically Aubrey Organics), keeping my hair detangled, protective styling, and castor oil for my ends.

Washing with shampoo everyday may be really drying your hair out. You should probably cut back a bit on the shampoo. And since you're washing every day you definitely don't need to clarify once a week.

Welcome!

My regimen and everything I use can be found in my blog (See siggie).

My basic regimen is a Daily wash, followed by my Cap n Go Method (detailed on my blog, under "Categories").

My top 6 favorite products:

  1. Creme of Nature shampoo (red label)
  2. Creme of Nature shampoo (green label)
  3. Keracare Dry&Itchy scalp shampoo
  4. Keracare Humecto conditioner
  5. ORS replenishing pak conditioner
  6. (Sweet) Almond oil

My regimen is simple: I wash my hair every two weeks with a moisturizing shampoo then deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner for 45 minutes with heat. I clarify once a month and do protein treatments when necessary. My protective style is two strand twists and I occassionaly sport a puff.

i moisturize daily with carols daughter hair milk...wow...i was doing harm to my hair!!! keep the tips coming..........

Welcome to the board and congrats for your B/C!!

I am a 4a/b as well. My main style options are twist outs. My staples / regimen are(and I have to real schedule sorry):

1. Cowash 2/3 times a week with a moisturizing conditioner.

2. Twist with spray leave-in conditioner, F/X Curls Up and IC Fantasia Gel(the one with blue top or the white top).

3. Porosity treatments every 6 weeks are so..

That is about it for now. I don't take vitamins like I used to when I was relaxed but i need to start back.

:hiya: & Welcome! Congrats On Your BC & HHG!

Thank you all for the tips. I also just didt the bc yesterday! I am trying to learn how to take care on my 4b natural hair.

Congrats on the BC. I co-washed daily and baggied throughout the first 6months after my BC, I don't do that now.

My top products are:

Cream of Nature Green Label Shampoo
Aubrey's Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner
Hello Hydration Condish (Co-washing/detangling)
Africas Best Sheamoisture Moisturizer
Qhemet Olive Heavy Cream Moisturizer
Castor Oil

I wash/deep condition every 7-10days, co wash 0-2x in between. I air dry in box braids, bantu knots or 4 big bantus/twists. Protein Treatments as need.

I moisturize every day (even tho I don't have to) and seal with castor oil. I mix all dc's with EVOO.

-BWC Rosemary mint tea tree as a cowash
-water/glycerin as spritz leave in/moisturizer
-Beauty Without Cruelty Moisture conditioner as a cream leave in/moisturizer
-castor oil as a sealant/hot oil treatment

I do mainly two/three strand twists, twist outs, puffs

Welcome!

I don't know if I have six products but my staples are shea butter and castor oil! It's a miracle worker for my hair - super soft and silky and moisturized all day.

I also co-wash almost every day and moisturize daily. I shampoo maybe once a month and DC every week. :yep:
