Am I tripping or is this a lot of hair?

Ladies,
Does this seem like a lot of hair to lose during one wash? I don't think I've ever lost this much hair during a wash and I have no idea why I lost so much. I had a bad hair week last week and didn't wash my hair twice a week as usual. Please tell me I'm tripping :perplexed

perhaps it is b/c you skipped a wash? did you change anything else about your regimen?

or are you stressed? change in daily life? stress can cause many changes in your body.

supposedly the average person loses 100 hairs per day. i wouldn't worry too much. just keep track of what you lose. hopefully it'll be less next time.

also, i take garlic supplements b/c i use megatek twice a week. it has slowed my shedding. maybe garlic might work for you?

When was the last time you de-tangled and washed?
I co-wash everyday, to me that would be waaaay too much hair to loose in one wash.

Last Sunday was the last time I washed my hair. I've been so busy this week, I haven't had time to do my hair.

I have some garlic tablets, I'll start taking them and see how that works out.

Do you comb between washes? If you only washed once this week and you might have a build up of shed hair. In the Winter, Fall, and Spring months I only comb on wash days. So if I showed people what I lost they would think I am going bald.

I would be concerned if I lost that much hair in a wash. I only detangle my hair 2 or 3 times a month and I know what's normal for me. Anything beyond "my normal," would give me pause.

I think your added stress of a job loss is a factor here...

that MIGHT be too much hair, I haven't lost that much hair since I was relaxed and I use to blow dry my hair...but now that I'm natural I lose a lot of hair when I don't detangle or wash, but its not that much....so I'mma ASSUME that might be too much, but I don't know honestly....

For your length that's a lot to me. If you only combed that one time during the week than no, it's not a lot. It depends on how much you combed your hair before you wash it.

When I comb once a week it's quite a good size ball of hair....probably about that size but my strands are super long so it looks like a lot more.

I loose about that much in a week and it does not make me feel good either OP. It makes me feel like all of my hair is going to fall out. The amount decreased right after the BC so I thought it was breakage but now the amount is creeping up again. Ultimately I don't think it's going to make that much difference in how your hair style looks but you are not alone in this. Interested to see what others will say.

There is a cycle of shedding so maybe you are in this window.

During that week I didn't really comb my hair..I might have combed it once that week at most. I have no idea what could have caused that much hair to come out..

I've read somewhere we shed 100 strands a day (which of course are replaced with new growth). If you havent combed or detangled in a while, then no. I only comb/detangle once a week and not that I've counted, but that would be 700 strands. Shedding will also appear to be more depending on your length.

I'm glad you made this thread because I have been concerned about the hair that sheds/breaks when I detangle. I get about that much twice a week when I wash. I am getting more hair than I did when I was APL. So my increase in length and the fact that I only detangle on wash days. My niece has informed me that if I detangle during the week I will have less hair in the comb but I tried that before I started this regimen and I found it taxing and increased breakage. But I also know that it's time for a trim because I see little hairs in the sink which are the split ends breaking. Should I trim now or wait til March? Do you see small hairs or are they long hairs? Looks like your normal shed hair. You could take garlic to reduce them if you don't want to shed so much.

Girl that's nothing. I should have taken pics 15 minutes ago when I was washing my hair  I usually end up with two fistfuls of hair... I know my hair is really long, but I have always lost a lot of hair when I detangle.

It also depends on how often you comb your hair. Once a week or every day?

That's about how much I lose on wash day and I comb 1x/week only on wash day. I still freak out when I see that much. I'm using garlic now so hopefully it will be less next wash day. I'm with you though, OP. I hate losing more than 10 -20 hairs. Is that resonable after not combing all week? Prolly not but I don't have to like it:nono:

Ummm...I comb once a week or so and that'd be pretty damn good for ME. I lose like twice that amount everytime :lachen: I'm almost BSL though.

I think you should go off of how much hair you regularly lose. If you lose less than that regularly then there might be an issue.
