Sorry...Not tryna be controversial, cause i know there some CHI die hards here...but my eperience has NOT been good with CHI. I bought the Pink breast cancer CHI bout a year ago and have used it all of 3 or 4 times... i went out and bought some cheap CON AIR INFINITI from walmart and have used that instead!!! What a waste 140 bucks!... It doesnt get hot enough and i feel like ive gotten a really good blowdry afterward, and id be happy if it even to even keep the straight look a full day after using it!

To be fair tho.. it did help add to the sheen of my hair...okay okay i would go so fair as to say it made it shiny...

Since im planning on straitening my hair bi-monthy im in the market for another flatiron....used the Rusk Str8t..it did a good job in getting my hair straight, pulled a little but overall it did good...but ive been hearing bout the Sedu, so...im off to the store again...but i will roll my eyes at the clerk if they try to offer me a CHI :wallbash:

u prally got a lemon. i have the chi turbo and it is soooooooo hawt i cant use it past "half way". Anything past the "halfway" heat point is way to hot. It makes my hair smooth and sleek. :look:

maybe?!! it just did not get hot enough to straighten my hair...but if everyone is having different results...it could just be MY flat iron

I haven't used the CHI myself, but I've heard many times from different people that it wasn't all that especially for the price; I've even tried some of the hair care including the Silk infusion and i hated them... I have a sedu which is really nice but i love my special addition FHI platform; it is the best and the special addition platform is better because it has snag-proof corners, smoother plates and is scratch resistant. The sedu cost me 120 I believe and the FHI was 175; both are expensive though.

yeah..girl bought that too and gave it away....it wasnt cheap so i kept trying to use it...but the alcohol content or something is too high..because it did nothing but DRY my hair out...which lawd know i dont need to happen.....and i was thinking about gettin the platform...but that extra $50 will hurt my pockets....lol:ohwell:

I am a CHI hater (lol) not really, but I bought it once as a treat for myself and boy why did I run back to the store the same day and then order my beloved Sedu online. That CHI got too hot. I will never forget how bone straight it got my hair, but I feared using it weekly because that sucka was smoking and this was the kind with no heat dial settings. So it just set to "HOT! LIKE FIRE" and that was it! No thank you.

My dream now after a few blissful years with my Sedu is to buy a FHI. One day! What? Dreams do come true you know!

Lol...funny! I wonder what the absolute BEST flat iron is...no matter the price!! U want to upgrade to FHI?!.... ive have heard SUCH good things about the Sedu...in fact, im going today after work to get one... CANT WAIT:grin::grin:

I have a sedu which I like, but i've never owned any other flat iron so I have nothing to compare it to. My cousin, however tells me all the time that it's one of the best flat irons she's ever used. I brought it almost two years ago and I'm just now learning how to use it.

yeah..ive heard people rave about it!! ive used so many different flat irons over the years...i can compare it to almost anything...lol..

I used my sister's CHI and I was not impressed. It was a basic model, no heat control, but I noticed my hair kept getting caught because the surface isn't smooth like my Sedu. I love my Sedu, it's awesome!

Okay I know the GVP is the chi knockoff, lol. I bought the GVP at Sally's and I thought it su****. My $15 Con Air Flat Iron gets my hair way silkier on temp 5. I had the GVP on 350 and it did nothing to my hair at all. Your right OP it looked like blow dried hair rather than flat ironed hair.

That experience left me thinking maybe expensive isn't always better. I ADORE my 1" Conair. If I ever buy an "expensive" flat iron. I might try the Sedu I guess.

ETA: I don't like Chi silk infusion either, lol.

well i was in  with my chi turbo and couldn't NOBODY tell me nothing bad about it...

until i tried my FHI.

i agree with the op that the chi doesn't get hot enough for *me* and my hair. i now have an FHI and an Instyler and both straighten my hair MUCH better than the chi...

i want to try the sedu now :look:

eta: the FHI i have get 410 degrees (no temp control) and the Instyler gets 385 degrees on high...i think the turbo on high is 310 degrees.

Yea I gave my Chi to my friend, it was the original without the temp control and every time I used it I had that burned hair smell....I havent used the silk infusion yet I just purchased it the other day...I got a cheapie wet dry flat iron and it starts at 325degrees which still gives me that smell...

The silk infusion is actually a pretty good product... It makes your hair softer and sheenier is you put it on prior to pressing

I've had a similar experience with another mid-line flatiron. It took at least 5-7 strokes to get it straight, and humidity would puff it up, etc. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Paul Mitchell express pro flat iron. I bought it AFTER testing it in the Trade Secrets Salon, and haven't looked back. My hair looks like it was done professionally for the first time, and it completely lays down the cuticle.

Isn't FHI the same as CHI? I thought I read that somewhere.:ohwell:

Yep. I think all Farouk irons are the same....I have a Biosilk 1" and I like it alright - I basically like it because of the temp control.

I tried my friends' CHI & FHI irons, but they weren't worth the extra money IMO.

UPDATE: So... i tried the Sedu!!.... and the results were great (ill post pics later) my hair feels like a perm. I still have my CHI and i tried one side of my hair with it...just to give it one last go and... im even more unimpressed now that i have the Sedu to compare it to. I promise in one swipe with the Sedu my hair was straight...good to go. But it took me 3 tries with the CHI to get the same flatness.

Only thing is, i find that i still have to blow dry my hair first even with the Sedu... I attempted to just air dry and press and um....lol i got thru 1/3 of my head ,my hair was dry and crispy, and had to rewash and start over again :nono:... this time incorporating the blow dryer, with silky and perm straight results.

So here is how i would rate the flat irons i have used on my 4a/b hair in order from best to worst (IMO):

1. Sedu ~got the closest to my scalp and gave enough tension that it got my hair straight on 1st swipe
2. Rusk Str8t
3. CHI (Nano)
4. Zoe Pink~ not very popular but had suprisingly good results...got close to my scale altho i did have to do 3 passes to get it straight like i like
5. CHI (Pink)
6. ConAir Infiniti ~ cheapie but actually does the job, just not the best on the hair
6. Hot Tools Ceramic

Im sure i have used others along the way... but these are the ones that stand out the most...
