Am I being shunned?!

If you don't get a reply, go back to your thread and type in the word " bump". That will send it back to the first page. I'm sure it isn't done intentionally. Sometimes it depends on when you start your thread. :yep: If you were to post a new thread now, you would get a lot of responses, because there are almost 530 people viewing the hair forum. For me, I usually only look at the first couple of pages, and if I can help or give support, I will post. I seldom go past the first one or two pages anymore. :yep:

I doubt that. I don't know when you posted your threads, but if it was recently it may have been overlooked considering its the holiday season and people are probably a lot busier that usual.

i thought the same thing when i posted. it turned out 2b untrue. sometimes though i think people overlook common/previously discussed topics that can b found using the google search function on the right. but like the others said...bump it & i'll add my newbie 2 cents

Sweetie this is not the case. I have not seen any of your post and we here on this board do not purposely side-step the posts of our Newbies. Maybe what you asked, no one had an actual answer for you. But now that I am here, I will assist as best I can.

Timing is everything and also don't forget to do a search on your topic also. Alot of questions and issues have been discussed over the years and you can get loads of info from past threads.

You haven't done anything wrong--you haven't even made enough posts to make anyone mad yet:lol: j/k but you know what I mean. Like Aggie said, ask away, we'll help if we can.

i know how it can feel when people dont respond....thats why i try not to start new threads without doing a search first.....

99% of the time your questions might have already been answered elsewhere.....

i agree with previous post....i usually only read first 2 or so pages....i mean recent threads go up to page 100 and beyond!!!

dont be discouraged....i'm sure we all come here with specific things in mind but will help out where possible....

to bump a thread/move it to the 1st page......post a reply that says "bump"...... or maybe...... "bump for more responses"

timing is everything....we are all in different parts of the world and log on at different times.....i find you will get more responses when the american ladies are online and it is after hours USA times......thats my own opinion

(((hugs))) I'm sure it's nothing personal. Even well known members have their threads over looked every once in awhile. Sometimes if you post at a peak time the thread can get lost fast, and if you post at a really slow time a lot of people who might have responded aren't around.

But I understand what you're feeling and that's why I make an effort to post in threads that have few or no replies. I may not have an answer but I want them to know somebody at least acknowledged their question/comment.

Hi,

Here's my newbie attempt to help (as I've never started a thread myself:ohwell:)

Use the search feature and find your old threads, then post/type "bump", that will take your thread to the top of the page. HTH

Don't take it personally, hun. It happens to all of us. If people, on the whole, don't have much experience with your topic you won't really get a lot of responses. But most of the ladies here will contribute as much as they can if they know the answer to your question, and if they don't a lot of them are nice enough to refer you to someone or a thread that will answer your questions. And I agree with some of the ladies above that timing if everything. Try asking a question when you notice a lot of people are logged in :yep:. And also subscribe to the threads you post and bump them up occasionally so that you are aware that people are responding and that people know that your thread is there.

Well, I'll say one thing larry - at least you were humble enough to think it was your fault and you didn't just assume that people were mean! When I've seen such threads in the past they're usually like, "ya'll a bunch of selfish *****s - why you can't help no noobies???" :look: :lachen: :lachen:

I commend you for apologizing even though you didn't do anything wrong! :bighug: I did see that you bumped some of your old threads so if I have anything to add, I will try to do so. :yep:

The search is horrible, I looked up Affirm, and got all these unrelated threads. Very frustrating.

dear larry3344:

heck no, no shunning here
we don't even know you, dear

bump your threads now don't you fret
eventually the answers you will get.

you've been a member about two years
we will help you allay your fears.

be patient until the search is fixed
and then you'll find the threads you've missed.

now, i'm off to see if i can find your threads..... :hug3:

You ladies have been too kind and I also understand as obsessed as we can all be about our hair this is the time for family thank you hopeful for bumping my threads and I thank you ladies for replying.

No sometimes people dont respond because their in other threads or just dont have anything to add to your question.

It's usually this, if peope don't have an answer it seems like a waste of time to post 'sorry can't help you' :lachen:... plus a lot of members usually lurk the hair boards and are mostly posted up on the other topics

No way! I think it helps if you can craft a somewhat funny or catchy title for the thread... just to pique people's interest.

You've reminded me to make an effort to reply to newbie's questions!

Highly unlikely!!!!!
Even veterans get posts lost sometimes.... There are so many people here - if you are not on the forum for a couple of days - your post could be on page 10......

I have no idea what your posts were about....

I checked all of the threads you've posted, and each one has a response. Do you have a particular question about something to which you need an answer? Maybe you can just ask that.
