Why can't you use a heat protectant...why do you need an alternative?

ETA: Do you have any type of serum? Some say silicon helps.

I dont have one. I rarely ever use any type of heat but tomorrow I plan to straighten my roots for a special occasion but dont have the money (college student and no job) to buy a whole bottle for one application.......

If you don't have one, you should get one. REALLY helps your hair out. I like the Silk Elements one at Sally's in the beige bottle. However, I have heard that olive oil is a natural heat protector, but I don't know if there's any truth to that. I'd never try it. :covereyes

Hhhmm...I can't say for sure that anything will work except a specialized product for heat protection. But you may want to try any moisturizer or styling cream you may have that is high in silicone. Some even say EV coconut oil works as a heat protectant (some strongly warn against using any oil to flat iron, as it could fry your hair).

You should really try to get a real heat protectant. I don't think they are that expensive, most are under $10.

Go to TJMaxx and get a bottle of CHI Silk Infusion for dirt cheap, or go buy something and return it when you are done. -shrug-
