Aloe gel for thinning edges????

Who has tried applying aloe to the scalp for hair growth? I've put aloe on my scalp to soothe it when it was itching really badly one time and the next morning my hair was hard in that section.

Has anyone ever used aloe gel on the scalp without the hair turning stiff/hard?

I mix mines with Castor Oil. It helps in laying the hair down and it doesn't get really hard. Mind you it still get hard but not that bad.
