I'm not gonna lie, DH is getting tired of all the "older" wigs that I am wearing.. and I am too. I've been "wigin" it for almost 8 months.. I wash and deep condish 2x a week and have been pretty sucessful at gaining length and maintaining it. I've gone from nape length to about 60% shoulder length in a decent amount of time.

What I am trying to ask is, what styles can I rock that are still hip and cute during the weekend. I dont mind doing the wig thing mon-fri.. but on the weekend I want to change it up.

I tried a braid out on Saturday and it looked a hot mess... dry, frizzy, not a style at all. What did I do wrong.. i washed condish'd, braided like 9 box braids and dried until Saturday evening... before we had company I had to put the wig back on.. it looked horrible.

Can you recommend products I should have used? What braid out proces do you use? Are "twist" out's better? Plz post some pics if you have em.

ohh the awkward SL....i am SL myself and i can't stand the way certain styles look on my hair. There's just not enuff length (since i'm extremely uneven) for a simple braidout or rollerset to look nice.
so far i've done
1/2 wigs
curlformers
curlformers w/ added tracks
phony poneys & phony buns
twist outs

so i've been wiggin' it up myself also, but only for those 'out on the town nights'..any other day I'll do all different kinds of phony ponys. But i don't wear them right outta the bag. I'll take a textured one comb it out or straighten it so it resembles my hair.

don't have too many pics of them in my fotki but ur more than welcome to search it

I'm tickling SL and still bunning.

On Saturday though I did a sort of chignon thing in the back with some wavy bangs and it was cute until the chignon came loose :(

Thanks for the responses ladies... so what exactly are curlformers... I have some extra hair at home I too could add tracks... I want to suprise DH with something different, hot and sexy!!!

Oh my Gosh!!!!! You don't know what Curlformers are?!
Here is a pic from another thread of QueenT's curlformer results. You can buy them from Sallys locally or on their website.

When doing braidouts, what helps keep it moist is doing it on moisturizered dry hair. After I wash and condish, I either airdry with a moisturizer and lite oil or I blowdry straight, apply moisturizer to each section and since my hair is in the in between stage too many braids look a mess so I use five or six braids instead. And when dry or set, take down one at a time with a little oil and finger comb each section.

I learned to never use a comb no matter how wide it turns frizzy. Play with is to form a style. WHen that gets old you can pin up the back and sides into an updo.
I love rollersets on SL hair; just use larger rollers.
Buns look nice and of course pin curls. Just be happy you have length to work with and all will fall into place. HTH!!
