Almond Oil

Almond Oil-Excellent emollient high in oleic, linoleic and other fatty acids, ideal in the treatment of very dry skin. Soothing and moisturizing, with a sweet, pleasant fragrance. A good absorption base.

It's a carrier oil (like jojoba, olive, etc). I tried using it on my hair (a long while ago). It didn't absorb as well as jojoba oil though. I find that (for me) almond oil works better on my body (when I make body scrubs).

I purchased almond oil to mix w/ essential oils to use for my 4 mo. old nieces hair....

I figured it was light and mild....

When I make a body scrub, I don't follow any particular recipe. I just mix some stuff up and use it. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Anyway, here's what I mix up and use:

* sea salt, epsom salt, regular ole salt or regular ole sugar
* carrier oil (almond, apricot, grape seed, jojoba or olive)
* essential oil (I use lavendar or peppermint because I like the smell).
* shea butter (This is optional, and makes it even more moisturizing).

Mix well and enjoy. You can also warm it up a little by sitting the dish (heat resistant) in a container of hot water (double boiler).

I haven't made any in a while because I bought a big thing of The Body Shop's Cranberry Body Scrub, and this stuff smells AWESOME!
