So I am thinking of transitioning long term as of next year. This will be one of my goals for 2010 as well as reaching APL. I am currently neck length but not far off shoulder length and about 4.5 months post relaxer. My Plan is therefore to use Wigs and Weaves to transition for a year and see how it goes.

I plan on keeping sew ins in for 6-7 weeks, thereafter taking out the sew in and doing a heavy protein treatment and moisturising treatment followed by 2 -3 steams and resting my hair in between with wigs or phony ponies for 2 weeks. I plan to maintain the weave by washing and deep conditioning weekly like I would with my own hair and braiding nightly to avoid tangling. I also plan to dry my own hair/scalp (under the weave) on a cool setting under my hood dryer to avoid matting, tangling, mil dew etc hence why I am looking at Virgin hair which I have been told hold up to this weekly washing much better.

Anyway I am looking to use Indian Curly hair so that I can more easily blend my own 4a/ 4b hair in with the weave hair without resorting to heat to blend my own hair.

I was therefore looking for some Virgin Indian Curly recommendations from you ladies on the board. I am happy to pay about $200 for 8 oz on the condition that it is good quality hair that I can use a few times (i.e. about 6 months so therefore about 3 installs).

When rating hair could you please provide information on:

1. If the hair is Virgin curly Remy hair
2. Colour match for 1b hair/ off black hair
3. Texture
4. How easy the hair is to wash/ condition
5. If the hair matt's, tangles etc
6. VENDORS !!!
7. Rating on Vendors !!!

Also any experiences you have had with this type of hair - both positive and negative would be great.

Thanks !

Finally I have seen some super lush YT vids for Indian curly hair (see below):

Sounds like a great plan!!

I am sure the weave experts will soon come in but I really don't think Indian Remi Curly is a good match for 4a/4b hair. Its usually just a bit too silky and I think you would still have to flat iron or straighten and manipulate your leave out in some way. BUT it can be done!

Have you considered getting kinky curly? (See Ediese threads about it)

Have you considered getting a fullhead? or a lace closure? remy is hard to blend with 4 type unless you use a LOT of heat

I have used virgin curly and virgin straight from Wagmanhair.com. I think the virgin curly was alot of maintainence and you will have to test different products to tame the curls but they are gorgeous. Also sometimes virgin hair will not blend seamless unless you are applying heat but in your case you don't want to so you would need to ask for the curliest, coarsest batch to try and match your texture better. I am 4b and when I flat iron my hair the virgin hair blends okay. (I have some pics in my fotki). I did not experience any matting or tangling with the hair, I actually got a wig made out of a batch I brought in March and I still wear it. I love the virgin straight. You will have to call for pricing because in March and June I brought 8oz virgin straight for hair under $200 but the prices have increase because of the high demand they have wait lists for the virgin hair. Also wagmans is wholesaler so the virgin hair will not look pretty out of the bag so you will need to wash a few times to get the curl pattern..lol You can also check out BHM for more info on virgin hair

Currently and for the past year or so, my vendor of choice has been Indique but its not in the $200 price range(higher) . I will still give a review. I am actually installing my virgin curly hair tomorrow.

1. If the hair is Virgin curly Remy hair- virgin indian curly
2. Colour match for 1b hair/ off black hair- virgin hair is NOT dyed. It will usually be a natural dark brown but can range darker or lighter. You will have to dye virgin hair to get it the color you desire if it does not match no matter what vendor you purchase it from
3. Texture -soft and big curls(not tight) ....Type 4 hair ( which i have) will not blend without being manipulated; You will still have to straighten your hair OR wear it going back with a headband which will be less manipulation(it still has to be be smooth though so that it can blend with the hair)
4. How easy the hair is to wash/ condition 0The hair is very easy to wash and condition; use moisturizing products though. I use CON detangling shampoo to wash and silicon mix to condition
5. If the hair matt's, tangles etc- The hair does not matt or tangle (on me anyway) and has very minimal shedding
6. VENDORS !!! I've only used Indique for Virgin hair so at this time I can't recommend another vendor. I will venture out soon but for different types of virgin hair.
7. Rating on Vendors !!! I'm completely satisfied with this vendor.

FYI- Check out BHM for more weave knowledge and posts about different vendors and whatnot.
