How's it going ladies. As promised I put my hair in braids 1 week after I got it texturized. I plan on doing this off an on for 2 years with cornrows and individual braids. I also plan on moisturizing every day or every other day and I will wash with a diluted shampoo once a week. I forgot, are you supposed to condition hair also after shampoo? /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I condition mine by diltuting it in a color applicator bottle or you can just use the braid spray for conditioning. I have had mine in since the 16th of August and I have got some serious growth. I will be taking these out soon. As of late, I have not been washing and spraying as often as I like but I'll pick it up starting tonight. I am planning on keepin mine in off and on for awhile also. Take care Q

I found humecto to be very EASY to rinse out so I don't even dilute it when I apply it to my braids.

I've had mine in since August 3-4 and I plan to take them out today. Im not taking them out too soon or too late right. 6 weeks is the time frame for the braids to come out. I have box medium braids. Im actually ready to take them out because im ready to take care of real hair now, so im just trying to justify my actions. Your corroboration would be helpful! :-)

still going strong here! I've got medium box braids too, but the darn ends are sticking out BIG TIME LIKE THE LAST 1.5 IN. OF HAIR! So i'm having to take them down within the next week or so,-so I won't damage my ends.

I'm hanging in there! I took out my boxbraids on 9/5 and got my hair braided in cornrows on 9/12 (I have pics in my photo album). I'm trying to wait a week before I start Surging and S-Curling...I want this style to last at least a month-shoot, if I start now, I'll have to take my hair out earlier! I did buy some Hollywood Olive Oil and mixed it with the Surge Motion 9 Oil and have been moisturizing my scalp since. So far, so good /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey Faye! I generally don't go longer than 6 weeks in braids because my hair seems to outgrow them fast. I hope you were taking care of your hair while in braids and not just once the hair is out of braids. /images/graemlins/naughty.gif What are you doing regimen-wise while your hair is in braids?

Hey, Alli77!
I use diluted conditioner when conditioning my braids.

Hi ladies, I did my hair in small box braids on August 22, but I am ready to take them out now, I'll start tonight since I don't have school tomorrow (Hurricane Ivan). I am taking then out because they really look rough. I've been surgeing and cw-ing them with nexxus humectress. I only have a half inch oy new growth, but I can't wait any longer.

Diva I just checked out your album! VERY NICE! I love your make-up! You are on point! what do you use MAC? I really liked the smoky eye and the wigs were looking so good. BTW thanks about the tip on diluting the conditioner, I will do that next time I wash!

NFYnit, your cornrows are really pretty! Right now I have them in cornrows going straight back, they are really fat. I think I'm going to get box braids in a couple of weeks when I take out cornrows. I don't know what it is but I'm in the mood to do big box braids a la janet jackson in Poetic justice, I just love that style! I used to wear it all the time in highschool and I just remember that I used to get compliments on it all the time!

Thanks, Alli77!
I use a variety of products... MAC, NARS, Milani... you name it. I guess I have an advantage in that I'm a makeup artist. You can see some of my stuff in my album under, "See Diva's Tearsheets". Let us know how you like using the diluted conditioner. /images/graemlins/wave.gif

Diva, I used the diluted conditioner last night and it worked great! My braids were looking and feeling nice and soft. I like Nars as well but have never been able to afford it, I can afford MAC though, I love their eyeshadows and lipsticks!

Hi, everybody. I put some new braids in my hair this past weekend. I cornrowed my hair straight back & used the interlock method to attach curly synthetic hair (not the microbraided hair). I don't know if that would be considered braids or a weave, but I'm going to try to keep the style for at least 6 weeks.

Welcome Ipanema! I'm not sure what that is either but I'm sure one of the other ladies here can help. What are you doing for moisture?

I've started back up.. I've had cornrows since last Friday, plan to keep them in until next friday (october 8/9) then have the front braided for 1-2 weeks, then maybe get some long pixie braids until sometime in december.. then back to cornrows.. then relax in the beginning of january. of course.. should anything change.. i'll update. how's it comin for you ladies now?

I had my hair cornrowed two days ago, i plan to keep them in for two months to achieve my waist length goal. I'm surging them once a day and using s-curl to add moisture. i'm also doing my plastic cap method, to increase circulation=growth i leave it on over night and take it off in the morning. I will be shampooing with Elasta QP Creme conditioning, con or Dabur Henna cream conditioning poo, followed by Keracare Humecto or Motions oil silk protein, but i'll alternate between the two each week. I may switch between Nexxus Humectress and Motions CPR just for a change. I usually moisturise the ends of my cornrows with Profectiv Breakfree or Roothealth then add my oil concoction with Dabur Amla oil, Castor oil, Coconut oil and olive oil, it really keeps my ends moist especially when i use the baggie all week.

Hi Ladies! I took out my cornrows this weekend and installed some individual braids. I used Robin's video to help me. I took 3 days to do at 6 hour intervals but I finally have them done. I washed the following day with diluted shampoo and diluted conditioner and then I rinsed with diluted apple cider vinegar to remove build up since I did not remove the alkaline base from the hair. I will be posting pics in a couple of days!

Den I will be doing the plastic bag method at night to help increase growth. Also I think I will try surge again since everyone raves about it so much! I'm going to stick to surging faithfully!

That's great news Alli77, can't wait to see your pics...Yeah i'm def. sticking to surge and the plastic cap method for the next 6 months. Good luck !!!
