what treatments do you ladies do or have done to your hair to counteract the distress that is inflict during and after the relaxer is done? I ask this because, I do an AphoGee Tx for damaged hair, And apply a deep conditioner(w/Organics Hair Mayo) after my relaxers. Should I be doing something else? What else do you do, and what are the benefits from doing what you do? Please when responsing, add the amount of time you perform these special treatment.(Ex. you use protein condtioners the 1st week after relaxing etc...)
I know I ask alot of questions, but I'm very passionate about getting my hair on the right track and keeping it there, as I know many of you are /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I always do a protein treatment after my relaxers. I use Affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor, Motions moisture silk protein conditioner, Aphogee treatment for dry/damaged hair or Nexxus KeraPhix. I always follow that treatment up with a good moisturizing conditioner. I use Mizani Moisturfuse. The relaxer dries and weakens the hair, so you want to try to restore moisture and replace natural oils and protein lost during the relaxer service. It helps to minimize breakage and gives hair strength. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is there a difference between a reconstructor and a protein tx such as AphoGee? Can you use either or can you use both? Please excuse my igorance /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hi Honeycomb, /images/graemlins/smile.gif

The protein treatment and the reconstructor are the same thing. Use only one at any given time. I usually alternate them after every touch-up. The last time was the Keraphix, next time I'll use the Affirm. /images/graemlins/wave.gif

The best hairstylist I ever had would deep condition my hair with Remedi Therax after she relaxed my hair. I had forgotten all about this product until someone here posted a link to their new site.
Epitomi/Remedi
I never used it at home, though. I need a good reconstructor to use once every month or two... I might order some from sheldeez.com for old time's sake. The HPC sounds good, too!

I use L'anza Hair Repair Formula Reconstructor. I use it 1-2 weeks before I get a relaxer touch-up and 1-2 weeks after I get a relaxer touch up.

Thanx for the link sassygirl /images/graemlins/laugh.gif Do any of the ladies here use the Epitomi relaxer? If so, how is it?
