Hi, FOr years I have been using affirm no lye with no problem. I started going to a new dominican salon. I called and sked if they used affirm and she said yes. Iwent in after a week of no blow drying so the hiar was thick and bushy. Well first she tried to tell me that I should use motions (it's no for me) I told her I wanted affirm. They brought out the big tub of lye affirm./ I asked about the no lye and she poo pooed me with the oh no we do not use that. Well I was in the position that I HAD to have a touch up so I went ahead with it. I had an ok experience and used all the affirm products after. OK fast forward to next touch up... I ordered the no lye from sheldeez. When it was time I applied the touch up myself (tues). Yes I know what I am doing. Everything went fine. That week (friday) I went to the salon got the roller set and blow out. Perfect. Now I am noticing more breakage then I have ever had around the edges front and back. Do you think that this is from the relaxers no lye to lye to no lye? The breakage is not throughout my head thank god but it is in the front and nape. What do you think and what should I do?

Bumping for Msnig - I have been curious about what would happen if you went from No-Lye to Lye and back again.

Thanks because I really want to hear anyones opinion at this point and if there is something that I should be doing to prevent any further damage

I switched back and forth 2 summers ago and my really broke offf. I suggest a protein treatment. Aphogee ($4) if money is an issue or Sebatian penetraitt if you can buy it ($30. I personally like penetraitt much, much better. Most of the ladies here however use the Aphogee.HTH

I've been switching back and forth between Optimum Lye and No lye and I have not seen a significant amount of breakage. I buy what I can afford at the time. Also Optimum no lye is easier to apply (fewer steps)
