So I am starting a Cafe at my church. I am so so so excited about it. However, I don't have a real clue what I want to do. I want it to be fun, I want it to be packed and I hoped that its a complete success.

So I have to say what the point is. Well, its for social reasons, fellowship reason and growth. We have a full church. What I mean when I say Growth is Growth in individuals. We have so many members but not enough that want to stand out and up. So I want to encourage our members and provide support for our youths and a showcase for their talents as well as other members and a sense of enjoyment and magnifying the Lord.

We have some incredible talent in my church so I am getting that together Open Mike, Singing, some instrutments playing, praise dancers etc., then food but I can't figure out what yet.

I want to have Drinks like a Bar, but they are of course fruity drinks but with biblical names. I think that is so cute.

After that I am kind of stumpt for ideals. Since this is my first Event and I am a stickler for perfection everything has to be right. I just have to make sure my ideals flow. I also have a skit or two. not sure what but we will see.

So your advice is truly welcome even drink ideals. jesus has to be red of course for the Blood. I been thinking about the HOLY Spirit a firey kind of drink its going to be so much fun. I am so looking forward to it. I don't have a date yet. Its might be March but I might push it back to April.

Blazin, I looove that idea w/ the fruity frinks with biblical names... how cute is that! Like a Samson Smoothie or a Noah Mocha  sounds like it'll be more of a health bar.

What about offering coffee alternatives, like Teecino for those who don't do caffeine...but love teas and the taste of coffee. They have great beverage blends

You could do a raffle for a book or gas card or something practical.
:yep:

Menu Ideas:

Laela....

Can I add 'my' coffee :coffee: :huggle: It's decaf, I promise.

Adding a Keurig Coffee machine would be helpful as the guests can pay $1.50 - $2.00 per K cup of coffee, and that would be a fair coffee price and a nice profit for the Cafe. :yep:

Provide a scipture with every purchase. You can some get lil cute note cards and have them typed on there.. have a prayer box somewhere around your cafe..

Congrats blazingthru! That's exciting! Will this be open on Fri night, Sat night? How about appetizer type food, soup, sandwiches? I think the food choices could also witness about the health message--not too much veggie meat though. :) I wanna come!

Thanks everyone for your replies, I am so excited to emplement them into my planning. The drinks sound so good Shimmie. Sorry its been so long since I had a chance to reply my computer has been acting up. I'll let you guys know as I draw closer to the event.

- have icebreakers so saints who don't normally fellowship together get to know each other
- will you have something for the singles?
- I would fiind out the hobbies of the members of your church..handsomething out giving them a chance to tell you what they like, talents, etc
-will you have coffee? This would draw me.....LOL
-Maybe make up menus with pics of the saints in the background
-Maybe have somewhere to put info concerning finances, college, etc

Update: Although my plan was a great plan, I never got approved to have it and it just kept getting dragged around, I gave it over to the youth Pastor last summer and it hasn't happen yet.

It was and is still a wonderful plan. There's a time and season for everything. I see this as a bud in rich soil (your heart) waiting to bloom at the right place at the right time.

Happy New Year blazingthru to you and your family and God's life to all of your God given dreams.

OH my Precious Sister Blaz....

Be well soon; for indeed you are the healed of God. :yep:

I believe God just wants you to rest and allow yourself to be ministered to.

I've had challenges as well and I've been resting, as it was so needed and my family needed me too, to spend time and just rest.

Sometimes we do too much. You, Dearest Blaz have always given and extended your giving to your family and to those outside of your family and without complaining nor holding back. You rarely think of yourself; only when you have to which are times like this, when your body is being challenged. It is now that you must think of you and allow God's healing to flow completely through you and your family.

I wish you well, my sister blazingthru and I will look forward to your posts with your Devotionals. I know that they will be a blessing to all who reads them.

Again, be well and just receive your total healing, in Jesus' Name, Amen. :flowers:

Enjoy the New Year feasting with your family and resting in your warm and happy home. It will be a joy to each of you. :sleep2:

Love,
Shimmie :love2:

blazingthru,
I hope you are all feeling better! I have attended events like what you have described (food, fellowship, beverages, entertainment, etc) at a local church. Perhaps you may be able to get some ideas or information from them. I am providing a link.

Thank you so much Prudent1, I am trying to get better and get my health back on track, I haven't been to service in a while. still sick and shut in. When I go back I will present the ideal to the youth pastor and we will get things rolling in time for Valentines.

First..praying for you to get better quickly

Second, I agree with Shimmie...God has given you a gift to do this, so it shall come to pass. I will be praying for you in this...I wish we had this idea at church. We have a cafe, but it doesn't have the exciting ideas like you have!:yep:

Thanks to you guys, I am readying to get this show together, I haven't been to service in a long time, My shingles was clearing up but some thing spranged up on my leg, but I am hoping its not that, but a bite, not sure yet it hasn't fully surfaced. I am going to sit down with the youth pastor and bring all my ideas and the ones suggested on this board, thank you so much. I really do thank you guys.

So I'll let you know which ones we use, but I love everything and will try it all..

There's no meat in Church because our Church is probably 75% vegetarians so we can't have that , coffee is never allowed it has caffeine even decaf is worst then caffeinated coffee. We, those who love coffee, drink Roma, its a cereal coffee. So I can have herbal teas, and cereal coffee, with assorted creamers. that will be really nice.

Can't sell anything at church, I'll have to ask for donations from the church. What I learned, I work in the treasury department that people like to give, Since I see what they give, it really floors me, some give for the book ministry, the children funds, clothing. all kinds of stuff and there is no mention of it. At all. None. So since this is really a youth event, I'll get a budget so that will be cool. and I know when I ask that others those who can, will donated something. Since its winter, I will probably do soup with cornbread and a pasta dish with rolls. That will be the meal at the break, we will have drinks and snacks throughout. This woman at my church, truly love her she makes this huge cauldron of soup, Ah dumpling stew so good. I hate dumplings. I pick them out but I love the bean soup its truly the best. I'll make the cornbread and everyone loves her soup so that will be a hit. I have to find someone that likes to make the drinks then we in the money. I have a kerug so I can bring that and a vitamix, i'll bring that we'll see how it goes.

@blazingthrou ...

Hi Precious Blaz...

I wish you every success with this. You are gifted with a heart for children and their well being. You are also God's trailblazer, getting things started and getting things done.

Blaz, only good and God's total provision can come of this. Somehow I see Jesus standing before you with the five loaves and fish in His hands, and giving thanks unto God and then receive the increase in provision.

I see Jesus providing for all, especially that big pot of soup. You have me wishing I was there... :yep:

Much love to you Blaz.

Are you SDA blazinthru? It sounds like it. I love Roma. make sure to get the hazelnut Silk soymilk coffee creamer-delish. :)
This is such a wonderful idea!
You could have an open mic night once a month with different themes.

We did that at my church, starting with black history month-people did poetic and speech pieces on how religion has shaped the black experience, sang spirituals, black gospel music from various black countries, etc. It was wonderful.

Sent from my phone-typos to be expected :)

HI Rocky91, Yes SDA almost five years now, never regret it. That's a really good idea the soy milk, I brought regular creamer to our woman's pray breakfast and they all tore it up, I didn't think to bring soy. I will add that to the list. Thanks so much.
