Hello ladies. My hair is practically blonde now and it was nice for the summer, but now I'm just tired of it. It's getting cold and I prefer a dark color during the fall/winter. Now, I've heard some stories of girls with blonde hair trying to dye their hair to a darker color and they end up with green hair. I know I should go to the hair salon to get it professionally done, but I don't think it's worth it. What do you think I should do? Any brand suggestions? Should I just get it professionally done so I won't end up with green hair? BTW, I'm trying to get my hair dark brown. TIA!
I've attached some pics of my hair color now.

I would seek out a professional especially someone that specializes in color to go to the color you want. HTH

My friend tried to dye her hair black and it turned green. I say pay for the service because it'll be cheaper than getting a corrective color.

I wouldn't dye it, I would rinse it instead.

First rinse it red or something in the reddish-brown family. Then do a jet black over the red or a dark brown over it.

If you try to go straight from blonde to the dark color without the color in between, it might turn green.

I was once Honey Blonde and this is what my stylist did to avoid the green.

It's your hair and IMO it's worth it every now and then to dish out the money to see a professional. Especially when it comes to such a bold color as blonde.

yes i too was a blond girl (when relaxed) you can go from blonde to black without the green. But you must tone the blonde down first. If you are going to a perfessional then you shouldn't have any problems. But if your a DIY like i am...this is how i did it.

I was blond in the summer and black in the winter. When going from blond to black i would first go down to brown or red. Then wait a while then do a black. But thats how i did myself and never had a problem. But if you want instant results vs gradual then go to a professional.

This advice is very accurate.

I had brown hair with blonde streaks/hi-lites when I decided I wanted to go Blue-Black. After 3 or 4 washing people were noticing green & blue streaks (where the blonde streaks used to be) in my hair...especially when I was outside in the sun/daylight.
I had to go to my hair dresser to fix it and she did so by mixing red w/black.

I use to rock blonde every summer for about 10 years straight. I would just tone it down by using a dark brown rinse. It would give me a beautiful medium brown tone. Never had any problems with my hair turning green.
