Hey Ladies hoping you can help me. I am a relaxed head attempting to change my hair color and style to this: Any suggestions in application of this product? Any warnings in using this product? Your assistance is greatly appreciate.

That looks like the one that was Red Hot Mary. I use to love that color back in 01. I didn't have any problems with it.

I used this a while back. I used the jet black one. Make sure you do it two weeks before or after a relaxer and do a moisturizing treatment after.

Please please moisturize and do constant DC. They are very drying. I know been using them since I was 10 yes you heard me 10. I'm still growing the color out.

Thank you so much ladies. One question though. Should I deep condition after I use all the products the box says? Or just deep condition my hair as usual every week?

I had good results with the darker colors but not so good with the colors that "lift."

I tried to use lighter browish color (honey brown? or something like that) and it came out a hot mess. Way to light at the roots and weird streaking all over. I tried to correct it with a darker color and ended up with GREEN hair in some areas lol. After all the color fiascos my hair was like straw. I had to get 3 or 4 inches chopped off. Needless to say, I'm done with trying to go lighter on my relaxed head heh.

Don't want to scare you though, the reddish color will probably be ok if it's designed to deposit the color rather than lift.

I don't have any advice, but the color is beautiful.

I use the same brand (chestnut brown)..here's what I do, I do a serious moisturizing DC with Coconut oil and Molassas (I leave it in for 2-3 hours) a week before I application

Directly after application I do another protein treatment with either Sebastian's Penetrait or Eggs and Mayo for 30 minutes

Then I baggy with my favorite moisturizer.

Following week, I use Aphogee's 2 minute reconstructor (for 7 minutes)

Then back to my regular routine...

So far, I haven't experienced any adverse effects:grin:

Anything Dark-n-Lovely ravages my hair. My hair hates their products. It's pretty fickle. My hair was a mess.... and that was with DCing and good care.

i went blond then down to reddish brown...tore my hair up. of course this was pre LHCF and i didnt know a thing about DCing regularly but i would never do it again, even now that i DC 2x a week.

The rule of thumb for using color and relaxer is to color a relaxer; never to relax a color. So OP, you should wait at least two weeks after a relaxer touch up if you're looking to color.

Oh Jazala if I only had read your post before I colored. Ok here is what happened. I am 3wks post relaxer. I am aware that the new growth will take color better so I put the color on my hair except 1/2 from the roots (newgrowth) on the entire head then I went back and put the color on the roots (new growth.) Even though I did that the roots still came put brighter than the rest of my hair. So.....when I go to wash my hair since it is red it will fade a bit in a few weeks I will probably get my regular relaxer and the relaxer will strip a little bit of the color at the roots. Overall I do love the color it isn't nearly as bright in the picture. It almost looks like a cellophane. My hair dosen't lighten well without going under the dryer. I didn't go under the dryer maybe next time in a few months. Thanks ladies
