So I got a touch up this weekend (Sat) and it burned fast, so my hair dresser had to wash it out faster than usual. So she washed my hair good, blow dried it and flat ironed it like usual. My hair looked nice when I was done. I got home and it still looked good and I wrapped it up at night like usual.

The next day (Sun) when I tried to comb my hair out, it was sticking to my head on the sides and back. I basically had to separate my hair because it was stuck together. Now my hair feels dry. I tried to put some moisturizer in my hair but this morning some of my hair was still sticking together. This has never happened to me like this before. :perplexed What the heck is going on? Any advice?
Thanks.

No negativity, please and thank you.

This has happened to me before. Its a scalp burn probably. What I did was saturate the stuck together areas with Aloe vera gel and a really moisturizing condish, and slept with it overnight, then I rewashed in the morning.

Thanks ladies. I was thinking about washing my hair, but then I thought money down the drain. I don't want to risk losing my hair so I guess I'll end up doing that. Seems like as soon as I separate the stuck together hair, it forms again. :ohwell:

Yeah, I hated to rewash after I spent all that time and money getting it done too, but it felt much better afterwards. That AVG feels SOOO good on the tender areas! Try it!

what level relaxer did you use?

sounds like some places burned

use aloe vera on those places til they heal

She used the regular. I think I need to have her use mild on me next time though because the regular is probably too strong for me. Off to wash my hair. :ohwell:

It could be a chemical burn...I have had a small sticky hair spot in my head after a relaxer, but it was in the spot that burned. I use Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 miracle worker. It is specifically for chemical burns plus a lot of other things. I would definately deep condition AFTER your repair your scalp. The HS truly is a miracle worker. I sprayed my spot 3 times a day and gently massaged the spot and it was healed in no time. hth. good luck to you.

If you haven't washed yet, I would suggest that you wash with a neutralizing shampoo just to make sure the relaxer is all out.

I also agree with everyone that it sounds like chemical burns...I wouldn't try to separate those areas unless your head is wet...try to baby those areas. The aloe vera is a good suggestion.

Even if you don't wash your hair gets some Hydrocortisone 2.5% (prescription strength) or over the counter 1% to put on those areas for a few days and it will heal alot faster.

what about neosporin or something like that? maybe anything for minor burns. But I still recommend hs miracle worker...but if u don't have that, I would use whatever non-alcohol first aid ointment that you have on hand. Also, I am not so sure about washing your hair. I understand about the neutralizing shampoo and all, but can't you do more damage to those areas by causing more irritation?

A gentle non sulfate shampoo would be okay. And washing gently shouldnt irritate the area. It made mine feel much better, and the areas healed quickly within a few days

Alright ladies. I washed just now with my Elucence Moisture Shampoo. I am now deep conditioning my hair with Jessicurl Deep Conditioner. I do have some Hawaiian Silky. I will try that afterward.

Yes, ma'am that's a burn.
It sticks because the injured area secretes dead cells and fluids as part of the healing process. The secretion is sticky, and it plasters your hair to the area. If you can pinpoint exactly where the stuff is coming from (it should start to scab up soon, so you'll be able to tell) then some vitamin e oil or tea tree oil directly to the site will help expedite the healing process and keep the area clean.

Don't try to pull the hair away or mess with the area..leave it alone as much as possible. If you aren't in serious pain, losing hair, or if the area isn't smelling bad, it's probably just a simple burn and should clear up by next week.
I used to get them all the damn time, and they were a pain.
Feel better! :hug3:

This is the results of chemical burns. Sea breeze would have done trick. After rinsing your relaxer out and neutralizing, poo and etc, if your stylist would have poured some sea breeze on your scalp, this would have kept the sores from developing. A few years back, this would happen to me many times and the sea breeze worked. But I got tired of getting chemical burns with every relaxer and left that stylist. Have not burned since.

EXACTLY what she said. You will be able to separate your hair without breakage once the scab heals and then flakes off - until then leave it alone. And definitely switch relaxer to one for sensitive scalp unless you normally don't burn.

This happened to me at my last relaxer. I came home clarified and dc'd again. After my hair dried completely I used aloe vera and greased my scalp with shea butter to help heal the "damage".
Hth.

Girl, This is a chemical burn....I have had this before it is not fun and hurts like...What helped me and stopped my hair from falling out was aloe vera gel straight from the plant. Here in NY they sell a 24" piece of aloe for $1.00, but, you should be able to locate it at any fruit and vegetable store or supermarket. Cut aloe a piece at a time according to what you need and try to locate the "burn" areas place gel over the area, I did this once in the morning and once at night until the areas were healed, this was a "miracle worker" for me...Good Luck and I hope that this helps. LOL, Rufus 12

Thanks for all of your advice ladies. I washed my hair and deep conditioned it that night. My hair feels so much better. I think I still need to find a better daily moisturizer though, but at least my hair is in a better state. I need to talk to my stylist about using the mild relaxer on me next time, because like I said, this has never happened to me before like this.

Poor thing. That's traumatic! Didn't she base your scalp first?? Glad you're feeling better!
