ACV vs AVJ

I current use diluted ACV every wash day just before I rinse my hair. (I don't want to deal with the smell while my hair dries so I rinse it out)

I've read that AVJ also closes the cuticle and makes your hair shiny. For all the ladies that have tried both, which do you prefer and why? And how do you use AVJ-- as one of your leave ins? It's got to smell better than ACV so I'm thinking of making the switch.

I cleansed my hair using NG's ACV Cleansing Conditioner and faithfully used AVJ after every wash.

Naptural85 uses AVJ to close her cuticles, i add AVJ to my leave in also (KimmayTube recipe). I believe she mentioned someways back that AVJ pH balance your hair allowing the cuticles to lay smoothly.

I was probably of no help.

I have used AVJ and AVG as a moisturizer on dry hair (Im texturized) followed by oil to seal the moisture. I divide my hair jnto sections the same as if using any other moisturizer. I also mix it into my henna and other ayurvedic treatments.

It doesnt smell like anything in particular so thats a + in my book. Only used ACV once successfully. The 2nd time, hair was full of static so I stopped.

Yes AVJ = aloe vera juice

AVJ is a much better option: (1)it closes the cuticle; (2) smells nice; and (3) safe for the hair. ACV dried my hair out. No more vinegar for my hair...

I use AVJ as a final rinse. It eliminates the burned hair smell from my flatironed hair.

I have tried both. I prefer AVJ, because its safer. It does have protein in it, but it leaves my hair moisturized & soft. I don't dilute it; I usually use it as a final rinse but sometimes I use it as a leave in & seal with olive oil.

I'm going to be the odd man out and say ACV. I have been using a ACV solution as one of my leave ins for months now and my hair has never been smoother. I LOVE IT!

I used AVJ back in the day when I first started my journey. It was nice, but I can't say I got the same result as I do with ACV. In my experience with both, ACV has proven to be superior.

pelohelo. You must use a ton of AVJ if you use it undiluted for a final rinse. Do you buy it by the gallon?

When I do my ACV rinse I use at least a cup, but only a tablespoon is ACV.

I use ACV as a rinse once a week and AVJ in my spray mix which I use on a daily basis or every other day if I'm too lazy, lol. The spray mix has a neutral ph level though whereas the ACV Rinse is low to steal the cuticles

GettingKinky I use non-diluted AVJ as a leave-in after my weekly wash. I seal with coconut oil.

I think AVJ works better for my hair, but its a friggin' arm and a leg in comparison with ACV. I hate the smell of ACV, so I use a lemon rinse instead (lemon juice and water that is pH balanced).

When I do use AVJ, its in my leave-in. I'm sure not rinsing it down the drain, LOL.

What's in your leave in? I used ACV two days ago and I don't think I got the ratio right. Also, what brand of ACV? How do you store it?

I don't think my hair likes AVJ and I keep having problems of it getting moldy. So I'm trying to figure out how to use ACV.
