Accidental dreadlock anyone??

Has anyone (naturals?) accidentally ended up with a dreadlock they didn't intend? I was feeling around in my curls idly and found a really hard one--turns out it's a really twisty dread. I guess I'll just have to cut it out (seems impossible to comb out--it's pretty thin) but it freaked me out--I'm going to be extra vigilant with combing from now on instead of trying to baby my hair. :ohwell:

Never happened to me. Try using a Denman when you detangle--that should catch everything. I use mine in the shower with LOTS of conditioner.

I had something like that happen early on in my transition... not really a lock... but a major tangle. I had to saturate with conditioner (let it sit for about half an hour) and pick the hairs out... 1 by 1. I haven't had that happen in months now.

I've been natural since junior high so I really have no excuse for this lol...

I'll try that technique! ;)

This happened to me in the spring when I started daily CO washing again. I ended up cutting them out, but if it happens again I'll use ThursdayGirl's method.

I did the same thing when it happened to me.

LOL. this happend to me to. i freaked out. i actually had to cut a piece out it was so tangled. very important not to be lazy about brushing out thicker transitioning hair and putting it in sections before washing it. the pre dry conditioning really helps with this too.
