Hi all! I learned about Bigen on this board and I'm about to use it to darken the last of some raggedy highlights that remain in my hair. After I use it, is it ok to Emergencee my hair? Or should I just deep condition?

I don't want to mess up all my new growth by screwing up this dye job!

Welcome to LHCF!

I've never used Bigen but I remember reading on some of the posts here that some of the ladies here experience dryness just after using Bigen. They easily corrected it with deep conditioning afterwards, with a good moisturizing conditioner. Protein may dry the hair out more if used afterwards.

You may want to do protein before, especially if it's been awhile since your last protein. Some of us are doing protein pre-poos, applying a protein reconstructor followed by the usual shampoo and moisturizing conditioner for deep conditioning. The protein pre-poo still strengthens the hair but there is no dryness afterwards.

I also read good reviews here about Bigen--on relaxed or natural hair. :)

Isis,

Thanks so much! Thats a big help, I didn't know about the dryness issue.

PS Your hair is gorgeous! :)

You're welcome and thank you! :)

When I used bigen (regular and the expressive line), I mixed the powder with an oil or something to increase shine and conditioning. Try coconut or olive oil.
