A Truthful Nation

One thing I've learned about life in my 30 years is people will either love you for speaking the truth or they'll hate you for speaking the truth.

I've learned that when you speak the truth, those that also have the truth in them will gravitate toward you. Those that are full of lies will run when they see you coming...definately run when they see you speaking.

People are so quick to say "People can't handle the truth!" and the ever redundant "truth hurts!" Hurts who though? Those that want to perpetuate lies thats who. The truth makes ME smile :yep:.

Zechariah Chapter 8
16. These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
17. And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.

I especially love the part about executing judgment of truth AND peace. Think about it. When one speaks the truth..however "ugly" it may be, no matter who around you may not like it...PEACE WILL BE IN YOUR GATES!

I hope this inspires you and you and you. YOU know who you are.

Feel free to discuss.

Great scripture SvelteVelvet, it reminds me that we should proclaim both the judgement of truth and the judgement of peace just the same. Let us continue together in fellowship, with truth and peace in our gates! Thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom. I pray that God continues to allow us to have open hearts to receive whatever word he has for us. There body is one unit, but it has many parts, and each has something to contribute to the function. And so are we in Christ! Thanks for what you have shared.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
Those who perpetuate lies like to twist the truth and pretend they do not know it. Equally troubling are the ones who learn of the truth but reject it outright because people by nature are resistant to change. This is why "dead to self, alive in Christ" is so vital for the only constant in life is change (refinement). Opinions, facts, and knowledge always change, but truth is from the Creator and it gives Him glory when we accept and exercise it.

I love the "building" that is going on in this thread! You ladies are inspiring and encouraging me as well. Christ is the way the truth and the light! Let us continue to strive to make Him proud of us in our daily lives. When we do Yahweh winks at us...

I want to share a book that has been such an inspiration and blessing to me on my journey thus far. It's called "When God Winks" (subtitle: How the Power of Coincidence Guides Your Life). The authors name is Squire Rushnell.

^^thanks for the book rec.. I've heard about this book before but haven't read it myself. Anyone would like to give a 'review' of sorts? Of course, I could just go get the book! I'm slacking in my book reading these days...

What was building, is now re-built...God is with us...

sidney || I'm not confident that I've heard you correctly. It would be great if you broke it down a little bit more.

"Building" was mentioned upthread--the building that happens as we add our understanding and insight to what has been shared. Perhaps this is another brick to lay on there.

Just a couple of days ago, and since then--especially yesterday--the thought of marriage solely as a place to give God glory has been clear in my mind. When I say "solely" as a place to give Him glory, I mean that it is not to be entered into for the sake of one's own pleasure (though that will come on its own), but rather for the purpose of glorifying God. Yesterday I read an excerpt from a bible commentary that referred to old Jewish teaching on marriage:

Clarke's Commentary on the Bible said:
"There are four causes which induce men to marry:

1. Impure desire; 2. To get riches; 3. To become honorable; 4. For the glory of God.

Those who marry through the first motive beget wicked and rebellious children. Those who marry for the sake of riches have the curse of leaving them to others. Those who marry for the sake of aggrandizing their family, their families shall be diminished. Those who marry to promote the glory of God, their children shall be holy, and by them shall the true Church be increased."

Through their choices and personal devotion, people choose whether or not to make their lives, relationships, and marriages altars for God's glory. People choose whether a relationship will serve their own ends, or serve God's. In the second bolded, the teaching says that when one marries for the glory of God, the fruit of that marriage is for His glory--holy children and the increase of the Body of Christ.

In the OT, altars were created whenever and wherever a patriarch wanted to make a sacrifice unto God. We are still able to create altars in our lives today. But it is a choice that must be made, and it is a choice that itself has power to make a relationship/marriage a sacred space where sacrifices of obedience and praise are given unto God's glory. Marriage will not compete for God's glory where it is used as a means to give Him such.
