A reggie for my Mommy

Hi Ladies, I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

I need some help, please. I finally convinced my mother to start a health hair journey. I'm not sure where to begin, here's some info

She's double-processed(relaxed and perm colored)
She's around chin length
Currently she's experiencing alot of breakage

At this time, she washes(poo) 1x with NTM and dc's with Keracare Intensive Masque or Lekair Cholesterol. As far as styling, she will rollerset mainly or install a sew-in occ.

What products or methods do you think will be benefical to my mom?
TIA

Since she's experiencing a lot of breakage, I would recommend stretching as long as she can without promoting more breakage. I don't know if sew-ins would help or hurt since her hair is already in a sensitive state. What protein is she using?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Keracare Masque is a protein.

Washing weekly is great, but if she is not applying anything to her hair in between wash days, that could definitely be a source of breakage. Does she wash her hair when she has the sew-in installed?

Yes, she washes it during a sew-in. I was wondering if her hair needs more moisture or a better form of protein to rebuild the hair.

would she be willing to give up either color or perm? I think eliminating one of those processes would be a BIG step in the right direction.

That's the hardest part.......I think if could talk her out of perm color before I could convince her to go natural. Not sure though.

is she coloring to cover gray? Because if she's coloring darker, she could go with color rinses or henna for the same results minus the damage :yep:

I would suggest using the Ojon line. It is expensive but I think it is gentle on the hair and moisturizing. I think they have a kit that you can try. I used their products and enjoyed them but I'm cheap, so I stopped using this brand. I do think that it is worth it. Bumping for you if you need more suggestions......
