after I do it this evening

Seriously ladies. Has anybody ever tired rolelrsetting with the actual roller going up and down instead of left to right like normal?

How did it work for you? Ever heard of search of then? How did the look turn out??

Help me out ladies... or convince me it's a dumb idea before I do it this evening. :look:

TIA

I went to a dominican salon in NC and they rolled up. I didn't like it. It left my hair without bounce and the curls were lifeless

But maybe someone will chime in with better luck

I think she is saying having the roller vertically against the scalp instead of horizontally__________
It wouldn't really look any different IMO. Maybe more of a spiral curl.

I rollerset rolling up. Works better for me and helps to flatten and smooth my new growth doing it this way.

Thats what I was thinking...more spirally

heck thats all I can do! I just figured it was me being bass ackwards.

They never come out really spirally though (well some do)

I can't believe you! You promised pics  That is NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! :lachen:
Back to topic... I've never tried it that way before. Can't wait for your pics though :)

So am I, now if your talking about rolling up, I have had success w/that and it does make the NG smooth better. I have also rolled my hair in various directions which I love.

I admit, I'm having a hard time picturing what you're saying. Where are the pics?

Dumb rollersetting question here: Sorry but how does rolling up make a difference on how straight the new growth is? How does it flatten the hair? I think it would do just the opposite?

Combined with the tension, the roller sits right on top of the new growth flattening it.

Thank you! Now, one other question which I think I already know the answer to: does it make the curls flip weird? I think it would for the shorter haired ladies like myself.

I guess it would depend on how you want to wear your hair. They do it on everybody's hair in the dominican salons. But then they blowfry it to death so I don't know.

I had to get you ladies in this thread to help me out!! :lachen: I'll post pics after I try it tonight.

I'm talking about rolling it vertically instead of the usual horizontal way.

So.. does anyone have experience with rolling in unusual directions.. does it work?? What do you do to your hair afterwards??

Rolling vertically will produce a spiral curl. Your hair should come out fine doing this. It's not much different than regular rollersetting (horizontally).

MsDee, did you ever get any pics of what you were talking about?

I always rollerset horizontally...it's easier for me to do so this way.
