DID YOU KNOW?

Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is being considered as a remedy for hair loss. It is appearing as an ingredient in both hair and skin products, such as shampoo, conditioners, hand lotions and body lotions. The jojoba plant is a hardy desert plant. It grows freely in the unfertile desert and survives heat, winds and lack of water. It takes about ten years for the plant to reach maturity. It produces a crop of 5-10 pounds of nuts per year once it reaches maturity, and continues to produce for more than 100 years. The nut is small and brown in color. Approximately 15 pounds of nuts are required to produce 1 gallon of jojoba oil. The oil is a clear, odorless and tasteless polyunsaturated liquid.

Additional Tip
Jojoba Oil is a good moisturizer for dry hair and provides a smooth, nongreasy emollient feel. Shampoo should not contain jojoba oil because it will prevent the shampoo from foaming. Jojoba oil has joined the ranks of protein and vitamin E in the world of hair products.

I never knew the thing about shampoo containing Jojoba. I've been using JAY - I thought it was ok but it does not lather.

I use Jason jojoba shampoo, it doesn't lather too much, just enough. i think its also because it doesn't have sls.

and just because a shampoo foams and lathers a lot does not make it more cleansing or good for the hair.... natural shampoos lather less and gently cleanse the hair..........i am not trusting of shampoos that lather a lot..........

Britt,

I don't really believe that anything promotes hair growth. I do believe that alot of products do improve the hair's health and jojoba is one of them.

Patticake,

I do use it as a daily moisturizer.

Yes I've known this for years! That's why when the curl went out of style I continued using my moisturizer spray. Leisure Curl. The main ingredient is jojoba oil. It stops breakage instantly too!

I didn't know about the shampoo thing though. Thanks mindymouse!

Someone asked about ORS Jojoba oil? Yes I tried it. Didn't care for it. I think it only has traces of Jojoba oil in it.

Thanks Stormy, Before I logged on I had just gone to Sally and I read the back of the ORS Jojoba Oil Moisturizer for list of ingredients, the first ingredient was wax, I was turned off and it has no water in it.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this product!

I'm curious of that too! I was also wondering if anyone uses it as a daily moisturizer?

I do! Wouldn't give it up for the world. My hair gets tangled somewhat overnight and when I use jojoba oil in the morning and hop in the shower with a plastic cap on, my hair feels a lot less tangled and soft! I think it's a combo of the jojoba and the steam from the shower. Also, a little goes a long way!
