A Good Study Bible?

Does any one know of a really good study bible? I have a king james version bible but it is hard to understand. Also, if any one could recommend a daily devotion that would help greatly.

I personally like the Joyce Meyer Amplified Version Bible, she breaks everything down and she has sections on how to relate specific verses to everyday life. I also recommend the bible study book by Tim Lahaye "How to Study the bible for yourself" I ordered it from Black Expressions about three months ago.

I have a Ryrie Study Bible, New American Standard. This is a synopsis of the Bible:

I have that book too it really breaks bible study down into various ways and techniques. A devotional I use is everyday with Jesus by the late Selwyn Hughes, I like the the way that the readings are themed on a 60day basis over a period of 365days.

I love the Message Bible..:)
This is a sample using the 23rd Psalm as an example

Psalm 23 The Message
A David Psalm

1-3 God, my shepherd! I don't need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows,
you find me quiet pools to drink from.
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction.

4 Even when the way goes through
Death Valley,
I'm not afraid
when you walk at my side.
Your trusty shepherd's crook
makes me feel secure.

5 You serve me a six-course dinner
right in front of my enemies.
You revive my drooping head;
my cup brims with blessing.

6 Your beauty and love chase after me
every day of my life.
I'm back home in the house of God
for the rest of my life.

Even though I have a King James Bible and a few others including the Message... I find I need different translations of bibles to give me a deeper comprehension.

Here's where I go online when I want to cross check a verse or section
Bible Gateway not only has an online search for a passage but it gives you the choice of several translations to choose from ...from modern to King James

Devotionals? I get SEVERAL in my in box but I have bookmarked E Word
as it has over 20 different links to devotions ....you just click on one...or choose one to become your favorite...or click on all of them throughout the day!
I read as many thoroughout the day and night to keep me close to the Lord

I love Jimmy Swaggart's study bible - its very very detailed. I had the same issue you did, and I find this bible works.
