I actually walked into this shop a few years back.... and ran out..........

LAWD LAWD!!!! I know that many of us have lamented about how braiders have treated us......... Well these videos remove all doubt about professionalism ( or the lack therof...):nono:

To be honest...I've never been to anybody but Africans to get my hair braided. The reason I stopped are multitudinous.

1. The cost was prohibitive - $180 easy w/o the cost of hair just couldn't afford that as a student and still can't
2. The would comb my hair from root to tip leaving me crying in the chair with huge clouds of hair falling all around me and tell me don't be so tender headed
3. They would use so much heat blowing out my braids it would burn my scalp
4. Braids would be in so tight I couldn't smile for days without pain and later my edges would literally fall out.
5. When they cleaned up the braids they would snip my hair too and glued it when they were closing the braid.
6. Sometimes the women would be late and rude to the point of ridiculousness :nono:

I am a proud self braider - matter of fact I just redid all my braids around the 1st 3 rows last night! Thank you lord for LHCF I never would have had the confidence to try before :yep:

I really want to be able to braid my own hair, but I don't think I have the patience/stamina of mind to do my entire head. For the second time I braided my mothers hair, but this time micros. I was so happy and proud and they look good! I think I will learn to do cornrows and then attempt these on my hair.

I actually DOWNLOADED this free video and watched it over and over and over and over and......you get the point.

Now I am proud to be a self-braider. Both cornbraids and boxbraids!!! Whooohoooo.....now everyone wants me to braid their hair. Uummmm....NO!!! But I can give you the video that I downloaded (...teach a woman to fish.....)

Because of my new found skill/talent, I recently joined the C&G challenge here for 6 months, but I'm considering a full year!!!

I can't bring myself to watch it because my scalp will hurt. I can braid and only want me in my hair, I had my mum do my hair today and even that was painful. I learnt through practise and more practise.

will this work for kinky twists if i just braid part and twist the rest???

i don't think i would have the patience to braid my hair, but i'd love to braid others'.

in fact... i just asked my brother to by me a DVD (the braids by breslin cornrow compilation) under the condition that first, he would let me practice on him, and two, i would braid his hair for free until the DVD was paid off (and even after that, he's my bro, of course i'll have to hook him up for life!) he's always kept his hair in braids, so his hair is very thick and healthy (i just wishes he washed it more) so i'll have a great practice head.

but i'm very excited to learn!
