So I really don't know what caused it...I am transitioning so IDK if it's been negligence through breakage, but the dang on photos don't lie. This first pic was in March of this year and the other one is from the other day, SMH. Now I did cut off what I thought to be about 3-4 inches in August..I was scraping BSL in March and hadn't straightened since then so I figured the four inches or so would have put me back around BSL and before I went and got a blowout unstretched I thought I was but you can never tell unless you straighten. It felt like the beautician was being careful but I guess not, IDK. Me and my hubby did my trim and I felt comfortable with my length and saw the pieces so I know that the August trim wasn't that drastic. I have to tell myself I am transitioning so what is mostly gone is relaxed ends that are leaving anyway to make myself feel better...but I would feel better knowing where de he!! my hair went. I feel crazy for thinking that the beautician cut my hair on the sly(cuz I know it makes no sense since I was not asleep or drugged when she did my hair but I guess the damage was done thru the blow-dry/flat iron process).....well that's a Dominican shop I have to cross of my list, the March pic is from a different shop. My only two blow-outs for the year....shame on my self and I guess I just gotta do better in 2012

Looking at these two pics are really depressing me...just looking at the uploads I see on the first one my hair is way past the blue line across the top of my shirt(several inches) and now it's shorter, my hair is SL....too sick about that!

During a long stretch between relaxers (6 months, not intentionally transitioning), I suffered a set-back as well. I was at the hair salon getting the front of my hair cornrowed (they said the new growth was too much to flat twist) and the girl doing my hair kept saying that it was breaking and I needed to treat it. I kept thinking to myself that she didn't know what she was talking about. My hair was a little past APL at that point and, on my own, I barely manipulated it (except for wash/DC days).

A couple weeks later, I pixie braided my entire head so that I wouldn't have to deal with new growth for a little while. I took pictures and noticed that my hair was looking more uneven/scraggly than it had in the past.

It was then that I realized that my journey to BSL was not going so well and I would have to decide between getting a major trim/cut or transitioning to natural. I started rocking half wigs and transitioned.

I feel for you. When I did transition, it was only for 4 or 5 months so congrats on being able to transition so long. Hope you're able to tweak your regimen as needed and hit your goal(s) for 2012!

That sucks, but I would just keep thinking that I was going to get rid of that anyways! It wouldn't be a journey without setbacks.

yeah, this happened to me (twice). I still have some breakage on my ends now in the back center. I'm trimming slowly which is very hard for me. usually, I'll just cut it off and start fresh. I have fine hair so the 1st time is from a way too hot flat iron (babyliss, blue one). and the other time is from the tangle teezer. both times happened during my transition and they both only broke off my relaxed ends when I had a lot of natural NG.

What was your regimen and styling habits between those blow outs?

Well from March until May I would wash/co-wash once to twice a week depending on how lazy I felt.

I m&s every day or two

I have been slacking on the moisture and protein balance thing and been only using moisturizing DCs, I am going to wash and make sure I do a proper protein treatment.

I don't really go hard on a regi but I guess I need to, I pretty much just do what I feel is needed at the time, but as I got into the summer stretch I wanted to keep out of it and got my first sew-in ever. Actually I got two during the summer/fall from around the end of May to June and September-October. They weren't back to back though and I also wore a wig I made of bobraz because I got that sew-in with a leave-out and my blending was wack because my 4b wasn't a good match. I guess I will just go back to bunning and leave the weaves alone too, the braids might have caused a little damage, but I actually took a pic before the last blow-out and when I stretched it it was longer than it is today and that was November 1st, so it was definitely the blowout I just got that caused the majority of it. I really do not understand looking at the November 1st pic now, I took it fresh out the shower and wash so I can't post it, but it was atleast APL and beyond and now it looks shoulder length...ugghhh!!

I plan to transition for 24 to 36 months( I hope I can make it I am going on 14 months now), I am stepping my game up though, bunning it up until March.

From the first to the second pics, it looks like they trimmed off the thin ends.

My DH and I trimmed it, but the 1st pic is March and the last 1 is from 2 days ago...I know I should have gained about 4 inches and I thought that's about how much I trimmed, my fault because I know Dominican blow-outs are not the biz when you are on a HHJ...

Just wanted to say think I'm having a set back too. That Crown/Edges challenge is just what I need.

Damn don't you hate that??!
