A C V on Relaxed Hair (Silly Question)

Does it strip your relaxer out (I know this may be a silly question..be kind ) /images/graemlins/grin.gif And if not how much do I use?

Not a silly question /images/graemlins/wink.gif there is a thread her title ACV and its benefit from yesterday. Look it up...in short, no it does not strip the relaxed hair.

Kimmil

Nothing can strip your relaxer out. Once your hair pattern has been altered by the relaxer nothing can revert it.

If you refer to the ACV post there are some recommendations of how much needs to be added.

LD, the other day I had a heated discussion with this girl that was telling me she was going to wash the relaxer out of her hair. Try as I might, I could not get miss thang to understand that once you put a chemical in your hair, the bonds in your hair are broken permanently and you can't "wash that out." Talk about an excercise in futility!! Aaarrrrggghhh!! She told me she does it all the time so she knows what she's talking about! Fine. Stay stupid and die. What could I say? /images/graemlins/look.gif

This idiot doesn't realize that all that's happening is that her hairdresser probably gave her a milder relaxer and when she washes her hair the curl definition is still there! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

This actually isn't a stupid question! In a hair magazine I read they quoted Angie Stone as saying that she went natural by using vinegar to wash out her relaxer. As a hair magazine they should have either corrected her or did a footnote to say this cannot actually be done instead of misinforming their readers. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

That's exactly it. I was more angry at myself for engaging in such a futile conversation. Talk about a waiste of time. I hate it when people won't even take the time to discover if what they are being told is the truth. If you don't want to take my word for it, that's o.k. But for goodness sakes, read up on relaxers for yourself. Saying that stuff in front of people who know the facts sounds so ridiculous, and she made herself off to be really stupid. And she was adamant about being right! /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif Whatever.

[/ QUOTE ] It's not a stupid question at all. I used to hear that you could use vinigar or beer to wash out a relaxer. I believed it, until I read up on relaxers and found out the truth. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now, I don't want to sound stupid, but do they sell ACV in beauty supply stores?

I agree in fact too many people don't want to listen to other people's advice and end up sounding dumb. They should realize that taking someone else's advice doesn't make you less smart it makes you even smarter that you can recognize when you're wrong. That's why I love everyone at this forum everyone takes and gives advice so well! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ] There are no stupid questions on this board. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't know if there is a company marketing some especially for hair, but for now, I just go pick up the apple cider vinegar at the grocery store. If anyone knows of a brand in the beauty supply stores, let me know, I'd like to try it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't think you can /images/graemlins/look.gif it falls under "food" category. You can find it at your supermarket, or certainly the health food store

Karonica, no question asked is a stupid question. ACV can be found at health food stores. It is best to use the organic kind with the "mother" floating around in it. ACV has many grat uses besides hair. Here is a link to more info on ACV.

Info on ACV

This is the one I use.

Good for you KitKat. IMO this stuff is top of the line. The manufacturers of this product are health food junkies. They have a book that goes into all the beneficial uses of ACV. Hope you get good results. Just be sure the mixture is a good one. Too much ACV can leave the hair hard and tangled. Just start with a small amount and go from there to figure out a good mixture for your hair. Good luck! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Pebbles,

What's up? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

There are actually two companies that I can think of off hand. One is John Masters Organics and that guy from the Morocco Method which are "marketing" the ACV as a hair care product. Girrrrrrrl, wander over to JM Organics and check out his price. John knows better /images/graemlins/cool.gif I would not be surprised if he was lurking here /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know about you, but I enjoy going to the grocery store and being able to pick up items which are crossovers for hair and skin.

Other than a generic ACV, I like the Eden organic ACV. It is wonderful for hair and skin. For laundry, I always use the generic /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

Waves to you and much love,

Jade

Hey Jade, /images/graemlins/wave.gif

Thanks for the info. I hope they're not more expensive then regular ACV available at the grocery store. I'm going to check that out. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
