O.k I went to the salon today and I was scared because of all the things that I have learned on this board. O.K. so here is how it went.

1. she only based my hairline:nono:
2. she was combing with a rat tail comb before the relaxer:sad:
3. she did do small parts and did only the roots.:yep:
4. she did protect my other hair from overlap:yep:
5. she did wash out the relaxer like 3 times:yep:
6. she did deep condition under dryer
7. She didn't have big rollers so I didn't get a rollerset:nono:
8. When I told her I was staying away from heat she smoothed my hair and sat me under the dryer instead of blow drying.:yep:
9.use heat protectant before flat ironing(50 crunches for this):lachen:

I was happy with the results but I also feel that she is rough with my hair, and oh yeah she tried combing my hair when it was wet with that rat tail comb:nono:. What do u guys think should I switch stylist? I do like her work, just not her tech. so much. Has any one used the Aveda salons.

Before relaxer

After relaxer in car:grin:

Please exuse the oily face, it's hot in the AZ!

it seems like she did most things right, according to your list. I wouldn't be so quick to switch stylists if I were you, but I would advise you to speak up if you do decide to go to her next time.

If she is reluctant to make the changes, then I'd leave.

Your hair looks good :)

Your hair came out very nice. Next time, I would tell her to add some detangler if she is going to use a rattail comb.

You should be basing your scalp at least a day before your relaxer. Maybe you can do it before you go to the stylist and detangle your hair as well before getting to the shop. I am so tempted to go to a stylist to get my hair done but LHCF has made me too picky. I do agree with the above poster, when she said that the stylist did most of what she was suppose to do; but if you are not satisifed or at least comfortable with correcting her than find someone else. Finally, I think she did a good job your hair looks nice.:yep:

I think you hair looks very healthy and it came out nice. But I have not let anyone other then me do a relaxer on my hair in years. I would be so afraid.

I may end up trying my own relaxer next time after learning so much from the ladies here. I have always tried to relax my self over the years but it never could get it straight enough, and I always overlapped something terrible, so we will see next time, I am stretching to 8-10 weeks this time hopefully because when I just relaxed at 6 weeks on the dot thanks to LHCF my hair was still very manageable.
