Hi ladies

How are you all doing on the challenge? I managed to get 1 inch in January and I am very pleased. Definately due to MTG and Surge.

Any frustrations? Any highs? Any lows? Share!!! :D

Hi! I just posted in the apl starting pics thread. I had some setbacks at the very beginning of the year. I was unable to relaxer stretch successfully. I can't make do with the two different textures. So I relaxed Jan. 27th with Mizani Mild, and I'm not seeing breakage now. I am also doing a weave challenge, and a hide your hair challenge, so I have no idea how much growth I've experienced so far. I've got another month and a half, and I will be taking pics. I do get discouraged sometimes, and want nothing to do with my hair, but reading the boards gets me back on the right track. I'm using Acetite de Olivia poo/con and Lacio Lacio leave in now, it makes my hair really soft. I pooed today and just smoothed my hair down and tied my scarf on and air dried it, and it looks really smooth. I will have to break out the dreaded flat iron just to give it enough style to go to work with, but I didn't use the blowdryer. I can't get my roots straight enough with my rollersets, so either way, I can't seem to win. Oh, I'm moisturizing each night with my jojoba oil/mango butter/shea butter mixture, and perhaps that is also helping to curb my breakage.

I'm still hangin' in there:wink2:
I started off MTG/Surging every other day and I got about an 1-1.5 inch for 7 weeks. I relaxed on Feb. 5th and I'll be starting my odorless MTG (thanks Naturallady) this weekend.

I am SICK of my bun and French roll, but since I'm on the Hide Your Hair Challenge til April 1; there will be no changess. I'll use one pass for my anniversary luncheon Monday:D

I'm also still shedding like crazy, but my hair does not appear to be thinning, so all is well.

Doing good
Had a tangle issue :ohwell:
My roots got thicker without me realizing it:lol:
Well thank God for Herbal Essence and coconut oil. got me out of a close hair loss mess, I did tear my hair a bit , so I had to trim 1/2 inch ,other wise I would have a had a full inch in 1 month. But I'm glad to report prayers, castor oil, biotin, eggs, and thickening up my roots. AMEN to that ;)

I just joined today. I didn't want to join because I thought it was far fetch for me. Plus I didn't want to look bad if I didn't hit the goal, but it's always good to be challenged.

I just wrote in the transition thread that I had a minor issue today. My first detangle issue; it was bad but not as bad as I've experienced in the past, pre-lhcf. I used NTM today. Yup I got paid and took my butt to both the beauty supply store and Target and became a product junky. I spent around $105, but walked away with 3 well stocked bags of products. I actually needed those since i only had my own home made product plus the oils WGO and OMTG. I got all of the NTM products thank goodness because Target only had 2 or 3 of each left.
Anyways back to the hair; I used the NTM deep mask and my hair was moist and the curls are well defined, it felt so silky. Long story short I attempted to try Sylver's scarf regimen. So far so good.

oh yeah i trimmed on the 8th, gave myself a blunt cut.

Well i had hoped to be full APL by Chirstmas, but no such luck. However I did trim two inches of my hair to get rid of thin ends. Now my ends are alot thicker, and im half a inch away! APL here i come! I took pix when i straightened my hair so I'll post them soon, im just not to good with the whole photobucket and codes and all that Jazz.

My hair is defintely thicken up thanks to castor oil! :)

I'm debating putting in a full sew-in for a different look. Aslo this will keep my hands out of my head. :ohwell: I'm constantly stretching my plaits to check the length.

I've been following all my rules for this challenge (DC'ing w/ everywash, combing only on wash day, rollersetting, etc). Vatika oil has been so wonderful for my growth and I've been takin my vitamins consistently. :D

I'm ready for a touchup howver. I'm 16 -17 weeks post and have a ton of ng. I'm having no problems at all with my stretch but since I hardly use direct heat I've been having a serious case of hair envy when I see ladies with silky roots. *sigh* The grass I always greener I suppose. :perplexed

I'm hopeful that I'll make it to APL by the June deadline (I just need to stop being so scissor happy):look: .

I've got about 1.5 inch growth since starting. Texlaxed hair Feb 4th (it was looking a hot mess). My hair is more softer and wavy loving it. Keeping it protected or using a satin scarf if not in a protected hair style. I just did a deep condition tonight still have the NTM in my hair...its been 2 hours I should wash it out LOL.

I've managed to get about an inch in january. I am shooting for another one by the close of Feburary. So far, I have increased my vitamin intake but must admit to doing poorly with my water intake:(:(....I will have to brush up on that note.

Can't wait to see what APL looks like on me! I just hope I am able to achieve it by our deadline. The challenge seems extra difficult for me with all these layers!*sigh* But I'm not given up.

I was on the last Armpit Challenge not sure if I offically joined this one. I will continue on until I get there. I doing pretty well. I just relaxed yesterday. I will be updating my pics next week. I am around shoulderblade length right now.

I think I will be Armpit by June.

I have no clue how my hair is progressing. It's been in twists for weeks and they're extremely shrunken. The hair is still on my head, so I'm assuming it's growing. How much? I have no clue. I'll know more when I retwist in a few days.

Well, I am MTGing it 5 days a week:eek: Using my Eqyss Megatek rebuilder and hiding my hair until April Fools. Very low manipulation right now. I can't really tell how much newgrowth I had because of underprocessed hair, but I think that I'll make it armpit in 6mo. or close to it;)

Well hmmm, I think I'll make it by July 4th to Armpit Length. I never thought of joining a challenge, because what if I fail? But honestly it's fun, so if I fail I'll just start over, either way I am going to have longer hair by July one way or another. Right now my hair hits the collarbone. So 4-5 inches should get me there. I've been growing about an inch a month so in 5 months I should have five more inches. This is huge for me, just two years ago my hair only grew less than half an inch a month!

I attribute the increased growth to a better diet, Nioxin and drinking more water.

I think I may be about 1.5 inches away from APL. I'm close enough, but won't claim it yet because I would like for my front to be there as well.

Well I am doing much better. The winter was causing havoc. I hat tons of shedding. I upgraded to Keraphix and Oil as a deep con and I slather my hair with Humectress every other night. The results have been great. I did not realize how truly brittle my hair can become in the winter.

I am also wearing my hair up with a bear claw and I do not comb in between washes. I plan to continue this until April then I am getting braids for one month. Then I will self relax in May.

I have about 1/8th of new growth at this point.

I have been growing 1 inch since January 1st. So, I'm 2.5 inch away of APL.
I want to be at APL before my birthday (May 31st). I'm currently on the C&G challenge and I'm going to eat a lot of protein and to include cardio in my regimen.
I also take 5mg of biotin since yesterday.
Apl, here I come !

I just joined the Challenge today. Straightened, the back of my hair is 2 inches past SL. The front and sides are at shoulder/collar bone. The back of my hair may reach APL this summer but I guess that the rest will catch up by Dec or so. I am also anticipating losing about 1 inch all over of relaxed ends when I cut them in April but I'm sure I'll make up for it in no time! :)

January, I didn't do anything, so basically February is my first month. I've been doing good with the vitamins and my nails are benefiting. I've been lax on the H20.

My hair looks ok, but hasn't been growing as fast as I'd like. I think for the rest of the challenge, I need to step up my water intake and take in some brewer's yeast. I've also been going to the Dominicans again, so that's been helping a little.

I'm still looking to make my goal, but it will be a challenge.

I really won't know until next week ... retouch time. I haven't had too many issues, but don't know how to handle the new growth. Not that it is growing like crazy; it's just that I've been natural for about 5 or 6 years and just got relaxed again in December. Although I was relaxed before I wasn't into caring for my hair, so I would flat iron and hot curl in a quick second. I had never heard of a CHI or a Maxiglide. I've been a member of LHCF for a hot minute and now I'm all but terrified of using heat (lol).

I'm still trying to decide between a CHI and a Maxiglide and in the meantime I LOOK like I'm trying not to do much to my hair ... At least to those that know me. I'm known for changing my hairstyle almost as often as my clothes. So this is a little hard. I'm looking at buying some wigs, like I've done when relaxed before, for style changes. However, I look at this site about 5 days a week and am always encouraged to work it until I get it right.

Hi everyone, it's good to hear how everyones doing on this! I think I'm doing aight. I finally got serious and started taking 5mg of Biotin, got dreds weaved into my hair to give it a break, been drinking lots of water, and made a cocktail of Surge, MTG, and Castor oil and apply to my scalp via color applictator bottle.
Castor oil really is the healing oil if it can take the edge of potential irritation from mixing Surge and MTG together, though I'd recommend if you try this to watch your scalp like a hawk to avoid irritation.
Anyway, I think I unfortunatley have a good four inches to go, my hair is currently collarbone length, I got it trimmed for hopefully the last time for a good year or so. Apparhently my ends were straight and thin while the rest of my hair wasn't so my anal retentive stylist took it off a good inch. At least if I'm going to do this i want to do it right and make sure it's healthy.
I plan on wearing real protective styles more often, instead of my usual haphazard pigtails. I'm pretty much striving to look cute while I do this so I'll be using weaves, braids, and falls to assist me towards making my goal. I'm also proabably going to start taking flaxseed oil for health and beauty reasons. Sorry for the essay!

i think i am doing well with things. I have been D/C weekly and using my MTG/Surge Nightly. No heat at all... Only for prepooing and for AphoGee treatments. It is going well. From my nape to APL is about 8 inches and i think i am at inch 6.5, some tips are longer, but it is only Feb. I think i should be there by MAY when i relax.

I'm doing well also. My hair is APL when it is wet so I'm looking forward to be APL when my hair is airdry and trimmed.

i had a major set back in january because i had my son and ended up in the hospital for 8 extra days from complications. once i got home i wasnt able to do anything...almost unable to sit up to get him out of his bassinet. luckily this week i was finally able to get back on track and rollerset my hair.
for the past month i have felt so disgusting because my hair wasnt done. and everyday i thought about how much breakage i was causing and how i might not be able to make my goals.
hopefully i can get it together and it will be ok. but i must say im worried

((hugs)). Don't worry - your priority is to your son and yourself. You've still got plenty of time (over 4 months), so you can still make significant progress. :yep:

Ladies, I am encouraged to read your responses. Some challenges, some setbacks, some progress, but total perseverence (sp? ).

I can tell you that after this challenge I will not be touching MTG - I can't stand the feeling of that liquid running down my neck!!!!! But it's doing the trick so....:perplexed

Keep it growing!!! :D
