5 inches in 5 months

green shakes made my hair FLOURISH I was getting almost an inch per month combined with it being summer and exercise. so i'm sure it was a combo of those things but green shakes are awesome for hair growth.

I actually need to go get some more mix...I am too lazy to monitor my vitamin and veggie intake, so this is my easy way out lol.

I use a hair vitamin, Maxi-hair, and my hair appears to be growing a little faster. I haven't measure it, but my straight styles aren't lasting as long-my roots are getting wavy rapidly. Be careful with vitamins. I see a lot of women on here doubling and tripling their hair vitamin dosage. That's bad. The dose is the poison, meaning too much of any substance can be toxic. The results of it may not be immediate, but you are going to see some of these women at 50 with hair to their butt, but in kidney failure and having cancer. A lot of the vitamins (A, B, C, D, E) in excessive doses can lead to this. I dare not double up on my Maxi, it has added protein, that with my dietary intake may be all my kidneys can handle. I go doubling up and dialysis here I come. That was a joke. Lol, be careful. Happy hair growing.

so "green shakes"? that's sounds really healthy. I was on youtube, and this lady said that she drinks them, and posted a pic ( a blender full of green leafy veg, banana, grapes ect. )

@ EllePixie - is this a powder you are using, or is it the veg blended down?

I've gotten close to an inch a month, I think, or at least accelerated growth. I do everything EllePixie said except the green smoothies which sound really good. :lick: You can never have too many veggies.
I notice that my hair grows faster when I eat a lot of seafood on top of a healthy diet too.

So ummmm what are in these green smoothies? :sekret: I need to do some grocery shopping.

I'm actually not sure how it happened - I only did it twice, I think. At the time, I was eating healthy, drank 1-2 green shakes a day, exercised 3-4 times a week, took my multivitamin + hair vitamin...eat a LOT of protein...minimal alcohol...basically went hard with the healthy lifestyle.

EllePixie I must agree...I power walk 3-4xs a week..Drink a green shake 1x & Berry shake 1x DAILY...I take my Multi,Borage,vit c & liquid cal.....Drink plenty water...

*In both my shakes I add MSM powder...

*Drink a glass of So Delicious Coconut milk/contains pre & probiotics (Great Protein) Every night....

Happy Hair Growing!

Ravengirl ajargon02 I know a lot of people do green shakes by literally blending veggies...but um...Elle's too lazy for alladat.

I drink the shakes from Amazing Grass - http://www.amazinggrass.com/orange-dreamsicle-green-superfood-30serving.html I love the Orange Dreamsicle one. I buy mine from Whole Foods, but you can also get them at places like Vitamin Shoppe or a health food store. I will say though, you might want to get the packets to try them out first...when I first started drinking them I thought they were SO NASTY, but then I started craving them. Go figure.

:yahoo: Yep Lita! I blend mine too...they don't seem to mix so well if you only stir them...blending or shaking is the best.

Soooo who in here that said YES actually has gotten 5 inches in 5 months? Not an inch a month for 2-3 months, but 5 (or more) inches in as many months. I mean, I have gotten 3" in 3 months, but that was a fluke as far as I am concerned since I couldn't duplicate the results....and thus I am inclined to agree with @empressri.

We all know it is hypothetically POSSIBLE, but c'mon now....the only one who comes to mind as being consistent with this is @NJoy. Talk about selling a dream, y'all are talking like if this girl drink green shakes she will ABSOLUTELY have hair to her butt by December.

:look:

lilsparkle825 I don't think anyone said that, and I don't think that green shakes "make" your hair grow. They help with overall nutrition, which is vital to optimal hair growth. I don't think that anything will make your hair grow more than it wants to. The only thing you can do is give it the best "environment" to flourish in. But is 5 inches in 5 months possible? Absolutely - I never said it was possible for EVERYONE though.

lilsparkle825 Hi! No one said any-thing about a green shake or any shake giving you 5inch a month..Some people dont have to do any-thing/it could be just genetics..I was talking about keeping your body healthy...

*At the end of the day..HEALTH COMES FIRST...

Happy Hair Growing!

Always got to be one party pooper.
I never claimed to get 5 inches in 5 months. All I said is that I notice that my hair grows faster when I take really good care of myself. My nails grow faster and healthier too. :)
Folks can drink a green smoothie hoping for their hair to grow like a weed if they want to but they are missing the point. Take care of your body and your hair (and everything else) will show it.

For anyone who cares - I just got back from Whole Foods to re-up my Amazing Grass and it's on sale for $19.99...it's usually $27.99. Oh but the ad said tomorrow is the last day.

In Feb I had about 1/2 inch and another half in March so I can get a inch every couple of months but lately he growth has accelerated so anything is possible.

Party pooper? I'll be that *shrug*

It was pretty clear TO ME that the OP came in here to ask what could help someone get 5" in 5 months, more than likely in the hopes that she could personally benefit from this information. Almost all of the subsequent posts reflected the general sentiment that "yes, it is totally possible," and even "yes, I have gotten such phenomenal growth before myself," thus instilling a false hope in one who is new to the world of hair growth/care. As I already said, there are a few of us who HAVE gotten an inch a month, as was so astutely pointed out would be the way to get 5" in less than half a year, but none of us (save the occasional miracle child) have been able to get this kind of growth over a long enough period of time to get all five inches she was asking about. The question was not "can you get an inch a month," but "can you get FIVE inches in FIVE months," a feat that very, very few LHCFers have achieved.

I am all for the theory of healthy body, healthy hair -- as a matter of fact, I have stated a few times on this board that I attribute my 3 inches from last summer directly to a change in my diet. But again, how many of us have CONSISTENTLY gotten that inch a month for more than 2-3 months? Since that answer is few to NONE, I have to stick to my previous opinion that you have to be sooooome kind of blessed (read: win the genetic lottery) to get 5" in 5 months.

Well, I think giving someone tips on health and nutrition in order to maximize their own growth is still a more helpful answer than, "you have to be soooooome kind of blessed." IMO, of course.

I'm definitely a believer that you can increase your growth rate and get an inch per month consistently. I'm checking in from my cellphone os I can't look up the link for you but, I posted a year end thread that has pics of my hair growing.

The genetics thing is not the only answer. My hair has never been longer than barely APL my whole life. And as far as I'm aware, only a few on either sides of my family had been that long. Therefore, I always believed my has WAS long.

I set a goal of an inch a month because there was a thread that led me to believe it was possible. And in March of last year, I documented 2 inches of growth (pics in my album).

So I know it can be done. But first, you hae to believe it. Some will vehemently defend the idea that it's a fluke, genetics only or a pact with the debil. These may have tried and determined that their own experience is evidence enough. I know better. I never hoped. I believed and put action behind that by using supplements, growth aids and healthy hair practices.

I have THE longest hair in my family an of my life. SOMETHING caused that. I believe it starts with the mind.
