4C - What is my hair type

I am trying to figure out my hair type so that I can follow along with the regimes that other people have with the same hair type.

Here is a picture of my hair, it's completely virgin hair, and I hardly straighten it.

In this picture, my hair hasn't been straightened in a while.

Oh, I'm the one on the left.

I also put one of my hair in braids.

LOL, thank you!

It's taken me a year to finally appreciate the versatility of my hair.

I've been extremely lucky to have my aunt braid my hair for me occassionally, and today was the first time I wore my afro, and I absolutley loved it...

I am so mad at myself for leaving it till now... especially getting cold, so I should be wearing it in protective styles.

I just wanted my hair type so I can follow along with my hair growth like everyone else!!!

I wouldn't put you in the 4 family at all. I'd have to guess 3b or 3c

Oh i'd have to disagree, myhairs like thatwhen its longer, and i would never consider it to be 3 type hair, more 4 type...

Do you have any more pics of your hair? I don't think the ones you've posted truly show your texture.

I'll come in here and say 4a
Just so you have one vote of each type. No, seriously, 4b in my opinion is very dense and packed naturally.

I'd say 4a too. Although, the hair that is not in the cornrows looks like it might have been combed which would disrupt the texture of the napps in their natural state. It's usually easiest to tell, when you've just washed your hair and it's a little damp.

Oh, that is the cutest picture- you and your hair are so pretty! But as to your question, it looks a bit like mine which I'd type as (mostly) 4a. But as you can see the typing thing is a bit confusing and subjective (and controversial). Sometimes I think it's best just to album hop until you find people who visually have hair with the same characteristics.

How could she be a 3 if she said she wears an afro? Doesn't type 3 hair grow down instead of out? I'm gonna say a 4a but it's hard to tell from your picture.

just off of what i see right here i would say you are a 4a.

its weird because different photos can look like different hair types, so its hard to tell 100% from the photos.

you're definitely a type 4, not 3. Whether or not it's a or b, we would have to see your hair wet to see if there is a curl pattern or not.

I agree. I don't see any 3 at all, but I would need to see another pic.

I'd say 4b by looking at the second picture. Is your hair like this all around? My hair has a different texture in the front. it makes me 4a/b(in the kitchen.

HTH

I am absolutely positive my hair is not a 3... LOL

My hair has no curl pattern either, but it also doesn't have a 'z' pattern either.

It's virtually straight. Very coarse, but straight.

I might have 4a in the back and the front.

No, but as soon as I get my digital camera back, I'll post them.

I'll be keeping a progress album, so that'd help too.

I'm going to go and wash my hair now, so I'll just pay closer attention to it.

I know when I wash my hair, the front and back stay very straight, and then the middle is kind of coily... not sure...

I'll take pictures, easy that way, right? LOL

You say you used to press your hair seraphinelle? Its harder to tell on hair that has been regularly pressed because the hair can become "trained" over time i.e lose its curl pattern and become straighter. This is what happened to my sister.

I thought that too, but the front and back have always been like that.

So much so, I use to get so frustrated when I first went natural, because the front looked so wack compared to the natural middle.

Hmm.. I don't know.. Plus I hardly straightened my hair. Heat hasn't been on it since August, and that was just for one occassion.

That could be the case though... If i take a picture, I'll take a shot of my roots.
