This poll is for 4Bs who stretch out their relaxers. Does cowashing every few days REALLY help you stretch? Or does your hair do better with less manipulation? Thanks and God bless!

U r in my head...get out:lol: ...Im a 3b/c & Im stretching 12wks(hopefully),Im 9wks post at the moment....my hair is growing like a weed...Im almost addicted to COwashing...been doing it EVERY day for the past 3days,my NG is very soft bcuz of it:D

It depends. I'm new to stretching, but I've been learning some things these past few stretches. Cowashes or any good conditioner after a wash helps my newgrowth to be softer and eaiser to manage. Sometimes I wash only twice a week and then airdry put it in a clip. The only reason i tend to wash more is I try these styles to blend my newgrowth (ie. braidouts, twistouts, bantus) and they never come out right so I have to rewash to get my hair in decent order :perplexed

I am currently 17 weeks post and CW every day. It really helps and my new growth is very soft and manageable.

However, I only wash with shampoo once a week and only comb on shampoo day.

I wash 2x each week while stretching and no co-washing. This works best for me.:)

I can't survive without co-wash !!! I'm 12weeks post Relaxer, and without it, I think my hair would be dead >.<

I don't think conditioner washing really helps me stretch my relaxers. I would say it's a combination of deep conditioning and minimal manipulation.

Im 4a/4b and co-washing is absolutely mandatory for me after 10 weeks. I usually stretch for about 14-16 weeks but my newgrowth is not one to be reckoned with so i just give it what it wants which is more moisture. I co- wash about 3-4X's a week.

I am learning to love the more frequent CO wash. Instead of every other wash I've been only doing one poo wash and it's been working well.

I stretch without doing cowash. I poo, deep cond, rollerset on Wed and Sat. This is how I stretch 12 wks.

CW helps me because I don't comb through my hair daily. So CW helps keep all that 'undergrowth':) good and moisturized!

Although I have just recently started cowashing.. I have to admit it keeps my new growth even more manageable. Before cowashing I just would stretch and do biweekly shampooing w/deep cond.. then finishing up with a rollerset.. the heat from dome dryer would also help in straightening my new growth. So now that I have discoverd the benefits of cowashing.. I will continue to do this as well as rollersets.

ETA: oops I am 4a... sorry I voted b/c I was focused on the word stretching... So deduct one vote from the poll answering for YES.

CO-WASHES SAVED MY LIFE!!!
I swear by it.
The only thing bad about it...
I have to detangle with a comb...
but I use a wide tooth comb and
I do it in the shower EVERYDAY.
I would like to PUT DOWN THE COMB
... ONE DAY... SOME DAY.. BUT NOT
TODAY.

Oh... I don't even use shampoo anymore
unless its to clarify... I use that once a
week. Oh... the porosity control
helps with the tangles...
I also use that once a week. ;)

My hair isn't crazy about poo--not even diluted poo. :nono: I co-wash more than I wash (when my hair's not braided/twisted).

Yes it helps me alot. Because, I have very thick nappy 4a/b (love my hair) C/O washing works best if I want to comb it. I try to c/o twice a week. I could stretch 5 months when I relaxed bone straight. I am now texlax. C/O helps with combing.

I go thru spurts but I am going to start doing it more startin next week. My NG is just so thick and I dont comb or use heat so its hard to maintain. I need to find a good detangler thats my next mission

Now that I visit the salon weekly I don't cowash but when I managed my own hair, I ONLY cowashed. I stretch 12 weeks or more and it definitely helped. My hair is a tangled mess without it.

I am BUMPING this Old *** thread cause i wanna hear more results from 4b cowash stretchers obviously...no need to add a new thread.

All this talk about the V05 66 cent sale, i decided to jump on the bandwagon and i picked up a few bottles today and I'm gonna start cowashing.

I'm nearly 13 weeks Post so i hope it helps. I was always scared that my hair wouldnt feel clean from trying to use conditioner.

PLUS, the conditioner is so cheap, why not try it.

Today I bought:
-V05 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie
-V05 Siky Experiences Champagne kiss
-V05 Tea Therapy Clarifying Conditioner in Vanilla Mint Tea

They all smell :lick: I need more moisture for this stretch.

I have tried co-washing the last few weeks. I have been co-washing once a week and wash once a week. My new growth is moisturized. However, my hair lacks the body and bounce that I like it to have when I co-wash.

I stretch for 12 weeks and after about 6, I start cowashing. After 8, I do it daily. I still only actually detangle once a week, occasionally twice. Sometimes, I do more of a co-rinse than a wash so there is less manipulation.

I agree with the bolded, however, I am just the opposite. My hair loves moisture so I CW and DC often, but as soon as I get 8 weeks post or more I have to do less CW and keep up the moisture with leave-ins and moisturizers. It's funny how it just depends on you and your hair.

4b'er checking in and no, daily co-washing does nothing for me as far as stretching goes. :nono: the only thing it does is constantly remind me of how much new growth I have. I like to leave my hair alone after a certain point that way I'm not fighting with new growth every single night.

Dee, you've pretty much said what I'm going thru right now. I have not done regular cowashing since I had a twa, then I switched to once or twice a week.

But for the passed month or so, I've picked up the daily cowashing again. It started off fine and real convenient. But then I went thru a few days of really bad breakage, which I haven't experienced in forever. So I am thinking too much manipulation caused that, due to the amount of new growth. I am about 15 or 16 wks post.

Cowashing works great when you're earlier on. Last time I stretched:
Weeks 1-12, I rollerset once or twice a week
Weeks 12-24, I flat-ironed every 2 weeks.
That was my most successful stretch ever.

This time around, I'm scaling back, to nurse my breakage. Doing braidouts...and won't wash until braidouts look rough. Just started this new regimen.... :crossfingers:

Well im still on the learning and I find that co-washing doesn't really help me I just deep condish after shampooing ...keeping it at minimal manipulation

I'm a type 4 stretcher and I cowash daily when stretching past 8 weeks, however, it's still low-mani b.c I only detangle once a week.
