I do not post here alot, but I have been reading all the BKT threads and I decided to take the plunge. I have been wearing my hair curly and I really want a change without the commitment of a relaxer and this seems like a great option. I found a Dominican salon that is going to it tomorrow for $150. I am so excited. I have posted the pictures. The first one is the before picture of a wash and go.

Congrats...just what I need to see. I'm 4a also, and I'm pretty sure I will try BKT soon also, except I will do mine myself.

It's lovely Mariamichelle! Can you tell us a little about your experience? How long did it take? Were the fumes very aggravating? How do you feel about your result? Your stylist?

It took about 2 1/2 hours for her to complete the process. I love the results, my hair has never been this straight. The fumes where not bad at all. I think that the stylist did a great job. I am going to go back in a couple of weeks and get a rollerset.

Good for you, Mariamichelle!! Good luck to you. I'm sure it will be beautiful! Pics please  Can hardly wait.

I'm under the dryer right now with my first roller set since bkting. I'll post my results in the morning as I think I'm going to sleep with the rollers in. Wish me luck!

Congrats on your BKT!! I'm happy that you're happy with your BKT. I plan on getting one soon or by the summer.

I would like to see how it looks when it is wet. Does the hair snap back into it's natural state? Or will it wear off in 3 months? If it does, I want to see it then. That is the true test for me

I would love to see this too! Do you plan on letting it wear off, Mariamichelle? I personally love the way my hair looks and feels after bkt. I don't plan on letting it wear off any time soon. I did two treatments in close succession and my hair is definitely smoother and feels awesome, even without product.

Yes, I think that I will get it again in three months. But, we will see how it goes.

It came out nicely! I can't wait get mine done.
And that wash n go is fiyah! What products did you use and what was your technique?

I used Kids Organic Shea Butter Moisturizer and Smooth N' Shine Curl Activator gel for my wash and go. I condition washed my hair and let a little conditioner in and then I applied the moisturizer and gel and then wrap my hair in a t-shirt for a couple minutes. Lastly when I took off the towel I shook my hair to seperate the curls.

These are the pictures of my hair after the first wash. My curl is just a little bit looser. So far I really like this treatment.

I have been reading about BKT, will it work on my natural curly hair, or does it work best on permed or texurized hair? I want to wear a straight hair style to a wedding in June. My hair is absolutely always in a bun, but I think it will be fun to wear my hair straight without having to use heat. Am I understanding this correctly, in that the hair dries straight without having to use heat?

Beautiful MariaMichelle! Was detangling any easier?

OMG! It was so much easier to detangle. I do not think that I am going to let this wear off. I love it. My curls have never looked better and my hair has never been this straight and my hair is so strong. There is hardly and hairs in my comb.

:yep: Same here! Someone PM'd me asking if I would allow it to wear off as a part of an experiment to see if my curls return exactly the same as before. My answer was I'm loving this too too much!

any more photos??

Just think of it as a coating for your hair, with keratin that covers the hair, and comes off with each wash. You should just put BKT in the search feature and you'll get so many threads from this site, that it will give you all the info you need to help you decide.

Mariofmagdal I just know from pming PinkSkates (whose pm is now off but you can still contact her via her website), and some of the others about BKT. It works on natural and permed hair. It washes out over time. Your hair will not dry completely straight unless you're in the 2's. The curls get looser and it cuts down on styling time and straightening. It also protects the hair from heat from straightening, and you can do roller sets after doing it to achieve straightness if you want (after the first wash), however you need heat the first time to seal it in. If you want hair to dry close to straight, you'll need several applications really close as Brittany116 did. Hers dries pretty straight. She's a member her, and also a natural (or close, I think she still has relaxed ends of about 2 inches...but I could be wrong and she could be all natural).HTH
